Granite City Logo Design

Nearly every new Granite City company understands that they need a logo, but few entrepreneurs thoroughly realize the vital role their logo will perform in their financial success, or the reason that one logo design performs far better than another. A company logo has a critical and sustaining impact on the prosperity of a company, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Granite City businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand deliberation, they can be comprehended in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be enduring and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

Retro logo design of a bicycle produced for a Granite City coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffeehouse were launching in an older section of the town and really wanted to cast a retro tone without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved both of these jobs by creating a logo design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and also germs designed for Granite City clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which analyzes the root causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that works with the clinical evaluation of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recollect where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Generally I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, yet it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more appealing, more attention grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo design with a leaping eco-friendly frog developed for a family fun facility in Granite City.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dentists, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a better lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Granite City traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but instead convey emotional experiences by means of the images they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of almost all good photographers in that they frequently share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something very similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Granite City logo design but also to show the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Granite City logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design projects that I take on I seriously savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however my client, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man really hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his scorn for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to share it with friends and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral point of views on the value of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they really loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logos are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo realize how important a logo is for their business so they are way more vested in the outcome. Every logo job possesses it’s allotment of obstacles, however the largest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, style for Granite City publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped parcel of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most vital part of a published book considering that it is often the primary thing a person sees in the bookstore. Regarding a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will ever get to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart but it seems like that in many cases 1 of the items individuals often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller new venture commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to affording a spirit of air travel and it was surely a winner.

Granite City logo layout used for advertising and marketing as well as a label design for Vintage Instance includes an antiquated font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be antique cases. For this business logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be utilized for anything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another point in time.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Granite City, design include an arc with lines intersecting with it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects because it seems that each and every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dental offices do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really enjoy doing dentistry logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family members nonprofit, the logo features 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to explain exactly how people should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that explains itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo layout developed for a hair style studio including a script font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo which related a feeling of calmness and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which did not go the obvious route of making merely a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a business logo which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is oftentimes the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the attention on the emotion that they wanted to transmit to their clients.

Logo design for a software programmer the style features and also famous element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the symbolism behind a business logo is just as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

A logo layout including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly understood the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a spot to sell their used items to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Granite City logo dsign using a graphic which garners the interest of traffic and sends an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo design has an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t actually designed for an Granite City area farm it was really created for a commodities broker, and this particular business logo was one of several that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to design an identity that projects self-assurance, success, and wealth.
Logo design designed for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font style that is evocative a renowned sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked closely with the owner to design a logo that worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
