Highland Park Logo Design

Nearly every new Highland Park venture knows they need a logo, however few new business owners entirely grasp the crucial role their company logo can make in their financial success, or why one logo works far better than another. A business logo has an instant and lasting impact on the prosperity of a company, choose the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Highland Park businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require contemplation, they can be comprehended in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

Retro logo layout of a bike developed for a Highland Park coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and bistro were actually opening up in an old part of town and really wanted to visualize a nostalgic feel without appearing as boring or low energy. I achieved each of the jobs by developing a sign design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and also germs made for Highland Park clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that investigates the causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that works with the laboratory assessment of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I remember in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more interest grabbing and even more memorable.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog developed for a family members fun center in Highland Park.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental practices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and a tree - made for Highland Park travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather project emotional journeys through the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they oftentimes share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with just words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Highland Park logo but also to reveal the depth of her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Highland Park logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but my client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members didn’t share his scorn for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get impartial viewpoints on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Business logos are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo comprehend how vital a logo is for their company so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo job possesses it’s share of challenges, however the biggest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, style for Highland Park publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin piece of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most vital part of a published book since it is often the very first thing a person views in the book store. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the opportunity that they will ever have to promote their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches modified to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go but it seems like that in many instances 1 of the items individuals usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a spirit of air travel and it was surely a victory.

Highland Park logo style made use of for advertising and marketing as well as a label design for Vintage Case features an old font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be vintage cases. For this custom logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that provided a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another era.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Highland Park, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects because it seems that virtually every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dentists do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I actually love doing dental logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family members nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters startled in height to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to summarize exactly how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that describes itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo style developed for a hair layout workshop including a script font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo that projected a spirit of serenity and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which did not go the obvious route of making simply a stylized orchid but instead designed a logo that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is oftentimes the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the attention on the perception that they really wanted to project to their customers.

Arabian horse logo layout developed for a horse cattle ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo style for a software programmer the design features and renowned element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism supporting a logo is just as important as how it serves the company it stands for.

Advance logo style created for a Highland Park indoor developer, design feature a series of red circles that converge and replace the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

A logo style including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly knew the market was ready for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to sell their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Highland Park logo dsign utilizing an image that garners the interest of vehicles and sends an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo style has actually a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand idea wasn’t actually composed for an Highland Park regional farm it was in reality developed for an investments broker, and this logo design was one of many that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to create a graphic that projected self-confidence, success, and affluence.
Logo developed for making use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is reminiscent of a renowned sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed quite a lot of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked closely with the owner to produce a logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
