TIPS ON SELECTING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design firm presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they can not refund the amount of time you commit which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many design firms talk a good game but ultimately a designer can only be evaluated by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t feature real life samples odds are they won’t be able to deliver a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s purpose is to reflect your unique vision for your company. If a designer isn’t focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how fast they can get paid.

Irving Park LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs establish notable brands. We have undertaken brand design work for builders, schools, diamond miners, party planners, restaurants, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business concern you can think of. What makes us different compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every logo design project as though it will be used as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first strategy our logo designs can, and have been employed in everything from fashion labels to neon signs. Our sign first approach guarantees that our logos are just as effective whether they are used in television commercials or web applications, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and remembered irrespective of scale or application.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which really sets ImageCo apart from many of the design companies that you might possibly have found in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are enlisted to do, we perform in-house. No matter the kind of project we accept, logo design, web site, trade show booth, or retail sign, we do not, and never will farm out our customer’s work to contractors based outside the USA. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that marks up the price of your design project and dictates the conditions of how you and I conduct business.

QUALITIES OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new Irving Park business realizes that they need a logo, however few new business owners fully comprehend the vital role their logo will perform in their success, or exactly why one logo design functions better than another. A logo has a critical and lasting impact on the financial success of a company, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, select the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Irving Park companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require consideration, they can be grasped in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to store signs a scalable logo design will remain legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or organization they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be timeless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It is both a verb and also a noun, it is an identifying mark and also the act of denoting something to make sure that it can be distinguished, its origin originates from the brand branded onto livestock. Nowadays a brand represents practically anything with a motive, regardless of whether it be profit or political parties, a brand is an inherent aspect of specifying the worth of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s sexy cousin, they are each from the very same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition targeted at a target audience, it’s objective is to develop an image that the audience will relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and identity design. When a person says the names Ferrari or Mustang what we consider is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can deliver us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals purchase those brands. Brand image is why people identify with most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the history of the majority of branding firms you’ll find that they are often re-branded marketing firms. When a person says they are in marketing the majority of people will likely have an idea about what they do. But when someone claims “I am in branding”… it simply seems more attractive, perhaps it’s since lots of people do not know what it suggests to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and attractive.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that explains the visual elements of a product or business that affect understandings. This largely includes the name, the logo design, the packaging, the colors used yet can additionally include sound, illumination, texture, signs, actually anything that can be seen, touched or heard are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that concentrates on a kind of visual design that helps shape the public image of a business, a product or a business. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, sign designs, packaging, as well as collateral products such as cards, stationery, and also brochures. Some visual designers also design web sites and user interfaces. The essential function of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and an emotional tone with the objective of affecting actions, end results as well as assumptions.

select logos & signs

Retro logo style of a bicycle developed for a Irving Park coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually opening in an older section of the area and hoped to cast a vintage tone without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished each of the tasks via developing a custom logo concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide and also bacteria made for Irving Park medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which researches the causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that deals with the clinical assessment of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the only instance I recollect in which I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Usually I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves rather literally, however it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more interest grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping green frog created for a family enjoyable center in Irving Park.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dentists, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Irving Park traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead project emotional experiences through the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they oftentimes share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Irving Park logo but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Irving Park logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design jobs that I take on I really savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but my client, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man genuinely loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members did not share his hatred for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage all of them to share it with colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get objective assessments on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to design their logo design realize how important a logo design is for their company so they are much more vested in the outcome. Every logo design job possesses it’s portion of challenges, however the largest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, layout for Irving Park publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender segment of real estate to work with, but it is the most vital part of a published book due to the fact that it is usually the first thing a person sees in the book shop. Concerning a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will likely ever get to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it seems like that in many occurrences one of the things consumers often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young new venture commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a feeling of flight and it was certainly a victory.

Irving Park logo layout made use of for advertising and marketing as well as a tag design for Vintage Instance includes an antiquated font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be used for every thing from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different era.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Irving Park, style consist of an arc with lines converging via it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects due to the fact that it seems that every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business advertising, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental offices do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really love doing dentist logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family not-for-profit, the logo features 4 characters surprised in height to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo that conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to describe how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo design created for a Irving Park hair layout workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo that conveyed a sense of calmness and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a concept that did not go the obvious course of making just a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a logo design which suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl featured into the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is more often than not the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the emphasis on the feeling that they wanted to project to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo layout created for a steed cattle ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a distinct creative logo design fashioned to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of horses. By having a different head form and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most immediately identifiable horse lineages in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Irving Park restaurant logo design a little dining establishment, design contains a modified script font which hovers over a group of elaborate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a little restaurant, design contains a changed script font style which floats over a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo style for a software program programmer the style attributes as well as iconic Irving Park element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive management. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it represents.

Develop logo design developed for a Irving Parkinterior designer, style feature a series of red circles that intersect as well as change the letter O in the middle of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Irving Park interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who prepares, investigates, coordinates, and manages such projects. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that involves conceptual development, area planning, site examinations, programming, research, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo design done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Irving Park, the personalities for letter V and A in center of words advanced have actually been modified to connect straight into words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Irving Park logo design project was performed for a leadership consultant that helps business professionals to become more effective at handling people, expectations, and productivity.

A Irving Park business logo design including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly recognized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a spot to market their used items to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Irving Park logo design design utilizing an illustration which garners the attention of vehicles and sends an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo design MQ ranches, this Irving Park company logo design has actually an area integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo design wasn’t really produced for an Irving Park area farm it was really designed for a products broker, and this particular company was one of a handful of that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to create a brand mark that projects trust, success, and luxury.

Irving Park Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo layout attribute for outwardly dealing with arrowhead and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the opportunity to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where the target is. Fortunately, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo design designed for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is similar to a popular Irving Park sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted loads of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked directly with the business owner to design a logo design which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
