Lombard Logo Design

Nearly every new Lombard venture realizes that they require a logo, yet few new business owners entirely are aware of the pivotal role their business logo can take in their financial success, or why one logo design performs better than another. A logo has an immediate and long term effect on the success of a business, pick the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Lombard companies prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand scrutiny, they can be understood in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and equally emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be timeless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bicycle developed for a Lombard coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and cafe were opening up in an older section of the town and really wanted to visualize a nostalgic tone without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I achieved each of the tasks by means of designing a logo concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and also germs made for Lombard medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which studies the causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare which works with the laboratory examination of samplings of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I recollect in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Usually I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more captivating, more attention grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo style with a leaping environment-friendly frog made for a household enjoyable center in Lombard.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental offices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and also a tree - made for Lombard traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector because travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but rather reveal emotional experiences through the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they frequently share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Lombard logo but also to show the depth of her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Lombard logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I truly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but my client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his scorn for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage all of them to share it with colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get objective assessments on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they adored the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo comprehend how crucial a logo design is for their company so they are way more vested in the outcome. Every logo project has it’s allotment of hurdles, but the largest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, style for Lombard publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most essential part of a printed book because it is ordinarily the first thing a person sees in the book store. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will likely ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go however it looks like that in many occurrences one of the items consumers often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest startup commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a feeling of airline flight and it was certainly a success.

Lombard logo design used for advertising and marketing and a tag layout for Vintage Situation features an archaic font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this business logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid vintage feel to it and could be used for every thing from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Lombard, layout consist of an arc with lines converging via it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo jobs considering that it seems that every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dental offices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really enjoy doing dental care business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities startled in height to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the people in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to summarize specifically how people should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo design developed for a hair style workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo which conveyed an atmosphere of contentment and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious path of creating just a stylized orchid but rather created a business logo that implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is usually the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the attention on the emotion that they really wanted to transmit to their clients.

Logo style for a software program developer the layout attributes and famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance behind a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the company it stands for.

A logo design featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly knew the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a location to market their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Lombard logo design dsign with a graphic which garners the interest of traffic and projects an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo design has an area included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo design wasn’t actually composed for an Lombard regional farm it was in reality designed for a commodities broker, and this particular company was one of several that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to develop a image that projects esteem, effectiveness, and affluence.
Logo made for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font style that is similar to a renowned sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted loads of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked directly with the owner to create a business logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
