POINTERS FOR IDENTIFYING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design firm presents a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can’t reimburse the amount of time you commit which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but ultimately a designer can only be determined by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t feature real world examples chances are they will never be able to produce a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be understood and remembered, and it’s goal is to reflect your unique vision for your company. If a logo designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

Loves Park LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs develop memorable brands. We have done brand identity design work for farmers, schools, diamond miners, wedding singers, bistros, retailers, and practically every other kind of business you can imagine. What makes ImageCo unique compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as though it will be used as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first method our brand identity designs can, and have been used in everything from fashion labels to electrical signs. Our sign first technique ensures that our logos are just as reliable whether they are used in TV commercials or web applications, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and remembered regardless of scale or function.

American Made ★ Design

Something that really sets ImageCo apart from other design firms that you may have stumbled upon online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are retained to perform, we perform in-house. Regardless of the kind of project we take on, logo, website design, trade show booth, or electric sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our client’s projects to organizations based outside the USA. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that increases the cost of your project and imposes the conditions of how we conduct business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A GREAT LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Loves Park entrepreneur knows they probably need a logo, but few new business owners thoroughly recognize the essential role their organization’s logo will make in their becoming successful, or why one logo works far better than another. A business logo has an instant and long-term impact on the viability of a business, pick the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, select the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life span of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Loves Park businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not need contemplation, they can be grasped in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to store signs a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be enduring and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s a verb and also a noun, it’s an identifying mark as well as the process of noting something to ensure that it can be identified, its origin originates from the mark branded onto animals. Today a brand represents basically anything with a motive, whether it be profit or political parties, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the worth of a specific thing in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s sexy sister, they are all from the very same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition aimed at a target market, it’s objective is to produce a mental image that the audience can connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing and identity design. When someone mentions the brand names Porsche or Mustang what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, elegance, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people purchase those brands. Brand image is why individuals buy most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Firms – If you look back at the origin of most branding firms you’ll find that they are frequently re-branded advertising and marketing agencies. When somebody claims they are in marketing most individuals will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or listened to are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that concentrates on a kind of visual design that helps shape the perception of a company, a product or a business. Brand identity designers create logo designs, signage designs, packaging, as well as collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and sales brochures. Some visual designers also design web sites and also software interfaces. The necessary role of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues as well as a psychological tone with the goal of influencing activities, outcomes as well as understandings.

select SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo design of a bike produced for a Loves Park coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening up in an older section of the city and hoped to project a nostalgic vibe without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I fulfilled both jobs by creating a logo design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and also bacteria designed for Loves Park clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which analyzes the triggers and effects of diseases, mainly the field of medicine which works with the clinical evaluation of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I call to mind in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping green frog designed for a household enjoyable facility in Loves Park.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a more enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Loves Park travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche area because travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but instead project emotional experiences through the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they often convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with just words. I tried to do something comparable to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Loves Park logo but also to illustrate the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Loves Park logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design projects that I take on I honestly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but the client, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy truly loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his hatred for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get objective judgements on the worthiness of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to create their logo comprehend how vital a logo design is for their business so they are way more invested in the final result. Every logo project has it’s portion of obstacles, however the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Loves Park book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender segment of real estate to work with, however it really is the most essential part of a printed book due to the fact that it is in most cases the initial thing a person sees in the book store. With regard to a publisher, it’s the opportunity they will likely ever get to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it seems that in many occurrences one of the traits people usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a good sense of flight and it was definitely a winner.

Loves Park logo style used for advertising as well as a label style for Vintage Case features an antiquated font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this business logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another era.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Loves Park, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can be one of the most difficult logo projects due to the fact that it seems that every single dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental practitioners do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually love doing dental business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to summarize how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that explains itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a Loves Park hair design workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a company logo which projected an atmosphere of peace and class for their new hair studio. I created a concept that did not go the obvious direction of making just a stylized orchid but alternatively created a logo that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept using the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is more often than not the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the attention on the perception that they really wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo design developed for a steed cattle ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a one-of-a-kind brand design customized to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of equines. With an identifiable head shape and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most immediately recognizable horse types in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Loves Park restaurant logo design a little dining establishment, layout includes a modified script font which floats over a group of elaborate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a tiny dining establishment, layout consists of a changed script typeface which floats above a group of elaborate lines and also dots.

Logo layout for a software developer the style attributes as well as renowned Loves Park component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it intimated something to the owner of the business and in many cases the substance behind a logo design is just as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

Progress logo layout developed for a Loves Parkinterior developer, design function a series of red circles that intersect as well as replace the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Loves Park interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who arranges, investigates, collaborates, and oversees such ventures. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that includes conceptual development, space planning, location assessments, programming, investigation, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Loves Park, the characters for letter V and A in center of words progressed have been modified to connect straight into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Loves Park logo design assignment was carried out for a leadership consultant that aids business leaders to develop into more successful at managing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Loves Park business logo design including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly recognized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a spot to sell off their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Loves Park logo design with a graphic which garners the interest of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo layout MQ farms, this Loves Park company logo design has a field included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem design wasn’t actually produced for an Loves Park regional farm it was really developed for a products broker, and this particular logo design was one of multiple that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to make a graphic that projects self-assurance, effectiveness, and wealth.

Loves Park Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo design function for outwardly dealing with arrow and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the liberty to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without recognizing where the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I hit a bullseye with the first shot.

Logo design created for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript typeface that is evocative a popular Loves Park sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked directly with the owner to design a logo that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
