Marion Logo Design

Nearly every new Marion company understands that they require a logo, yet few entrepreneurs fully are aware of the vital role their organization logo will make in their success, or precisely why one logo design functions more effectively than another. A logo has an immediate and long-term influence on the financial success of a business, select the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Marion businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not demand deliberation, they can be understood in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo will remain legible and equally emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the company they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be lasting and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Marion coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee shop were launching in an old part of the town and wanted to visualize a retro tone without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved both of these tasks by means of designing a trademark concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo design with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria designed for Marion clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which investigates the causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare that works with the clinical evaluation of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and more memorable.

logo style with a leaping green frog developed for a household fun center in Marion.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more dynamic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design including a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - made for Marion travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but instead project emotional journeys by means of the images they record. The idea behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they frequently tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with just words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Marion logo but also to show the depth to her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Marion logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design jobs that I take on I honestly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his contempt for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage all of them to discuss it with colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial judgements on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family and they really loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire an expert to design their logo understand how vital a logo design is for their company so they are way more vested in the end result. Every logo design project possesses it’s share of hurdles, however the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Marion book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender parcel of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most important part of a published book because it is in most cases the initial thing a person sees in the book shop. For a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will likely ever get to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it seems that in many occurrences 1 of the things people usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest fledgling commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a feeling of flight and it was undoubtedly a victory.

Marion logo layout made use of for marketing and also a tag layout for Vintage Situation includes an old-fashioned typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be older cases. For this brand concept I strove to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from another era.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Marion, style consist of an arc with lines converging with it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can be one of the most difficult logo design projects because it appears that every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company branding, if restaurants approached their branding in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really love doing dentistry logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters startled in elevation to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to explain precisely how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that illustrates itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo layout created for a hair design studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo design which projected an atmosphere of contentment and class for their new hair salon. I created a design that did not go the obvious direction of designing just a stylized orchid but alternatively created a company logo that suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is frequently the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the focus on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Logo layout for a software application developer the layout features as well as iconic element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk operations. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the owner of the company and in many cases the meaning supporting a logo is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

A logo style featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly understood the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a place to sell off their used goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Marion business logo dsign using a graphic which pulls in the attention of traffic and projects an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo design has a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo design wasn’t actually produced for an Marion regional farm it was actually designed for a commodities broker, and this business logo was one of multiple which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was actually to develop a image that projects self-assurance, financial success, and prosperity.
Logo design designed for using an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript typeface that is similar to a well-known sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the owner to design a logo design that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
