TIPS FOR SELECTING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design firm offers a money back guarantee try to remember that they simply cannot reimburse the time you invest which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many design firms talk a good game but in the end a design agency can only be judged by the quality of their design work, if the work in their design portfolio does not contain real world examples chances are they won’t be able to deliver a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be understood and remembered, and it’s objective is to reflect your unique vision for your organization. If a designer isn’t focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they will get paid.

McHenry LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs establish notable brand identities. We have undertaken brand identity design work for ranchers, colleges, diamond miners, party planners, diners, retail stores, and practically every other kind of business you can imagine. What makes us unique compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every design as though it will be utilized as an electric sign. Because of our sign first technique our logo designs can, and have been employed in everything from garment labels to neon signs. Our sign first method insures that our logos are just as reliable whether they are used in television commercials or website headers, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and always remembered regardless of size or application.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which really sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you might possibly have stumbled upon on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are retained to perform, we perform ourselves. Regardless of the kind of design project we undertake, logo design, business website, trade show booth, or retail sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our customer’s projects to contractors located outside the US. When you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that increases the cost of your design project and determines the conditions of how my customers and I conduct business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new McHenry organization understands that they require a logo, but few start ups entirely realize the vital role their company logo will make in their financial success, or why one logo functions far better than another. A business logo has an immediate and long term influence on the viability of a business, select the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of an organization. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help McHenry companies prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require consideration, they can be grasped in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to store signs a scalable logo design will be legible and just as emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be ageless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s a verb and a noun, it is an identifying mark and the act of denoting something so that it can be recognized, its foundation comes from the brand burned onto livestock. Today a brand symbolizes practically anything with an objective, whether it be earnings or politics, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the value of something in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s sexy sister, they are both from the same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest targeted at a target audience, it’s goal is to develop an image that the audience will relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated by advertising and marketing and identity design. When somebody states the names Ferrari or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people want those brands. Brand image is why individuals acquire specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Agencies – If you reflect on the beginning of the majority of branding companies you’ll find that they are often rebranded advertising and marketing firms. When a person states they are in marketing the majority of people will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or heard are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that specializes in a type of visual design which helps form the image of a business, a product or a business organization. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, signage designs, packaging, and also collateral products such as business cards, stationery, and also brochures. Some identity designers also develop websites as well as user interfaces. The vital role of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the goal of affecting activities, outcomes and perceptions.

select SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo layout of a bike produced for a McHenry coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening in an old part of the community and really wanted to cast an old-fashioned feel without coming across as boring or low energy. I accomplished each of the tasks by means of creating a business logo design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and also bacteria created for McHenry clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which examines the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine which works with the clinical assessment of samplings of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recollect in which I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Usually I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more appealing, more focus grabbing and much more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog designed for a household enjoyable facility in McHenry.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to integrate a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and also a tree - made for McHenry traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather reveal emotional experiences by means of the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo design was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of good photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with mere words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  McHenry logo but also to illustrate the depth of her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

McHenry logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I seriously savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but the customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man really loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his aversion for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge all of them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced opinions on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo design recognize how essential a logo design is for their organization so they are way more invested in the final result. Every logo project possesses it’s share of challenges, however the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for McHenry book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped segment of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most vital part of a printed book since it is usually the first thing a person sees in the book store. Concerning a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity they will likely ever have to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it looks like that in many cases 1 of the aspects folks often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a sense of air travel and it was surely a victory.

McHenry logo layout used for advertising and marketing and also a tag design for Vintage Instance includes an old-fashioned font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be antique cases. For this business logo design I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different point in time.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in McHenry, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs considering that it appears that each and every dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the same way dental professionals do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I actually love doing dentist business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a household nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters startled in elevation to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to summarize precisely how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that describes itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo style produced for a McHenry hair layout studio including a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo which conveyed a feeling of ease and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which didn’t go the obvious direction of crafting merely a stylized orchid but rather crafted a logo design which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is usually the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the main focus on the emotion that they really wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Arabian horse logo design produced for a steed ranch that focuses on reproducing Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a distinct business logo design tailored to manifest the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. By having an identifiable head shape and high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most easily identifiable equine lineages in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A McHenry Coffee shop logo design a little dining establishment, design consists of a modified script font which floats over a group of ornate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a tiny restaurant, layout consists of a changed manuscript font which floats over a team of elaborate lines and dots.

Logo layout for a software application developer the style attributes and also legendary McHenry aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive managing. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge between the software and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it intimated something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the significance supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

Develop logo style created for a McHenryindoor developer, style feature a series of red circles that intersect and replace the letter O in the middle of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a McHenry interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who plans, researches, collaborates, and manages such ventures. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that includes conceptual development, area planning, location examinations, programming, research, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and execution of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in McHenry, the characters for letter V and A in center of the word advanced have actually been modified to tie straight into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This McHenry logo design assignment was completed for a leadership expert that aids business leaders to become more efficient at managing people, expectations, and profitability.

A McHenry business logo style including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly recognized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a location to market their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their McHenry logo design utilizing an image which pulls in the attention of vehicles and projects an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this McHenry company logo style has a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand design wasn’t actually developed for an McHenry area farm it was in reality devised for a commodities broker, and this particular company was one of several which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to create a graphic that projected confidence, effectiveness, and affluence.

McHenry Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo layout function for outwardly facing arrow and the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the liberty to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular instance, I struck a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo made for the use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is reminiscent of a well-known McHenry sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted loads of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked closely with the owner to develop a logo design that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
