New City Logo Design

Every new New City organization understands that they are in need of a logo, but few new business owners entirely understand the key role their company logo will take in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo functions more effectively than another. A logo design has an immediate and sustaining effect on the prosperity of a business, select the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help New City companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require contemplation, they can be understood in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will be legible and equally emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be enduring and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bicycle created for a New City coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening up in an older section of the area and really wanted to cast a retro tone without appearing as boring or low energy. I accomplished the two jobs by means of developing a logo concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria created for New City clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which studies the causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of medicine which deals with the laboratory evaluation of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Normally I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more captivating, more attention grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo style with a leaping eco-friendly frog made for a family members fun center in New City.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - created for New City traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but rather project emotional experiences through the images they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they often tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I attempted to do something very similar to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  New City logo but also to show the depth of her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

New City logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I truly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however the customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy really disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his contempt for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get objective viewpoints on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Business logos are a weird animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to create their logo understand how important a logo is for their company so they are much more vested in the outcome. Every logo job possesses it’s share of challenges, however the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, design for New City publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow segment of real estate to work with, but it is the most important part of a published book since it is in most cases the primary thing a person sees in the book shop. Concerning a publisher, it’s the opportunity that they will ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart nevertheless it seems like that in many cases one of the things consumers often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small start-up commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a good sense of flight and it was definitely a victory.

New City logo design used for advertising and a tag layout for Vintage Instance features an old-fashioned font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be much older cases. For this brand concept I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a web page to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in New City, design include an arc with lines converging through it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging logo design jobs due to the fact that it appears that every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dentists do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really love doing dental business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to illustrate how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that explains itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout developed for a hair style workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a business logo that projected a spirit of peace and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a concept which did not go the obvious path of designing just a stylized orchid but rather crafted a company logo that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is usually the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the emphasis on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Arabian horse logo layout developed for an equine cattle ranch that specializes in reproducing Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted an original company logo concept styled to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of equines. By having a distinctive head form and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the highly quite easily recognizable equine lineages in the world.

Las Cafe logo design a little dining establishment, style includes a customized manuscript font which floats over a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo design for a software application programmer the layout features as well as iconic component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it intimated something to the owner of the business and in many cases the significance supporting a business logo is just as important as how it brands the organization it stands for.

Evolve logo design created for a New City interior developer, style feature a series of red circles that converge and also change the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

A logo design including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a location to sell their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their New City business logo dsign with an image that captures the interest of traffic and sends an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo style has a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo design wasn’t really produced for an New City regional farm it was really devised for a commodities broker, and this creative logo was one of a handful of that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to make a brand mark that projects self-confidence, financial success, and opulence.
Logo made for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript typeface that is reminiscent of a renowned sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted loads of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked closely with the business owner to produce a business logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
