Normal Logo Design

Virtually every new Normal business realizes that they need a logo, but few entrepreneurs fully grasp the vital role their organization logo can play in their success, or precisely why one business logo functions far better than another. A business logo has a critical and sustaining effect on the financial success of a company, select the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Normal companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require consideration, they can be understood in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will continue to be legible and just as emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be lasting and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

Retro logo design of a bicycle produced for a Normal coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an older section of the town and wished to project a retro atmosphere without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished each of the tasks by developing a logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria developed for Normal clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which researches the triggers and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare that deals with the laboratory examination of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the sole instance I recollect where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Typically I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more captivating, more attention grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo design with a leaping green frog made for a family enjoyable center in Normal.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental professionals, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - designed for Normal travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather project emotional experiences through the photos they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of most good photographers in that they oftentimes convey whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Normal logo but also to reveal the depth to her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Normal logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design projects that I take on I seriously savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however the client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man really disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family did not share his hatred for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased point of views on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their logo design comprehend how essential a logo is for their company so they are much more invested in the final result. Every logo project has it’s allotment of challenges, however the most significant obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, design for Normal publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, yet it is the most crucial part of a published book considering that it is usually the primary thing a person views in the book shop. Regarding a publisher, it’s the opportunity that they will ever have to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart nevertheless it looks like that in many instances one of the aspects people tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young new venture commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a feeling of flight and it was definitely a winner.

Normal logo style used for marketing and also a tag design for Vintage Situation includes an old font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this brand concept I attempted to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Normal, layout include an arc with lines intersecting with it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can be one of the most challenging logo design projects considering that it seems that each and every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really love doing dental logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 characters surprised in height to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the families in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to illustrate precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout produced for a hair style studio including a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo design that communicated a sense of tranquility and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious path of making just a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a business logo that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is usually the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the main focus on the feeling that they really wanted to project to their clients.

Logo style for a software program designer the layout features and famous aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive management. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection in between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the significance behind a company logo is equally as important as how it serves the enterprise it represents.

A logo style featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly understood the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to market their pre-owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Normal logo dsign with a graphic that garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo style has actually a field incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo concept wasn’t actually produced for an Normal regional farm it was actually devised for a commodities broker, and this creative logo was one of a handful of that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to make a brand mark that projects confidence, financial success, and wealth.
Logo design created for making use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is reminiscent of a famous sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed loads of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked directly with the owner to design a logo design which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
