POINTERS FOR SELECTING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design firm presents a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they can’t refund the time you commit which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but ultimately a designer can only be judged by the quality of their design work, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t contain real life samples chances are they will not be able to produce a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s objective is to echo your unique vision for your business. If a logo designer isn’t focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how soon they will get paid.

South Holland LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs establish notable brands. We have undertaken brand design work for mechanics, colleges, heart surgeons, wedding singers, coffee roasters, retail stores, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can envision. What makes ImageCo different compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as though it will be employed as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first technique our brand identity designs can, and have been utilized in everything from clothing labels to neon signs. Our sign first approach insures that our logo designs are just as reliable whether they are used in television commercials or web headers, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and remembered regardless of scale or use.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which seriously sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you probably have encountered on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are contracted to perform, we do in-house. Irrespective of the type of design project we take on, logo, business website, trade show display, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our client’s work to contractors based outside the USA. Whenever you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that marks up the cost of your design project and dictates the terms of how my customers and I do business.

QUALITIES OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new South Holland company knows they need a logo, however few new business owners fully comprehend the vital role their logo will play in their becoming successful, or precisely why one business logo functions better than another. A company logo has an instant and sustaining influence on the success of a company, choose the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help South Holland companies succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t need scrutiny, they can be understood in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from label to billboards a scalable logo will continue to be legible and just as emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the product or company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be lasting and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s both a verb and also a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the process of noting something to make sure that it can be recognized, its origin comes from the brand branded onto livestock. Nowadays a brand signifies basically anything with a motive, regardless if it be revenue or politics, a brand is an innate aspect of specifying the worth of a specific thing in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s sexy sister, they are all from the very same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest aimed at a target market, it’s objective is to produce a mental image that the target market can relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When somebody says the names Porsche or Mustang what we think about is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can deliver us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals want those products. Brand image is why individuals acquire most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Firms – If you reflect on the origin of many branding agencies you’ll discover that they are frequently re-branded marketing firms. When a person says they are in marketing most individuals will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that specializes in a type of visual design that helps form the perception of a business, a product or a company. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, signage designs, packaging, and also collateral products such as business cards, stationery, and pamphlets. Some visual designers also develop web sites as well as software interfaces. The crucial role of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and an emotional tone with the goal of affecting actions, results and understandings.

select signs/logos

Retro logo design of a bike produced for a South Holland coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee shop were opening in an older part of the area and really wanted to visualize a retro feel without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I fulfilled the two jobs via creating a sign concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and also germs developed for South Holland medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that examines the root causes and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare that deals with the laboratory evaluation of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the sole instance I remember in which I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents quite literally, yet it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and much more memorable.

logo style with a jumping green frog made for a household fun facility in South Holland.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dentists, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo including a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for South Holland traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead convey emotional journeys by means of the photos they record. The idea behind this logo design was to use negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they often tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with just words. I tried to do something the same to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  South Holland logo but also to illustrate the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

South Holland logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design projects that I take on I honestly relish and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but my customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his scorn for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge them to share it with friends and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased opinions on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they adored the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Business logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their business logo recognize how vital a logo is for their organization so they are much more vested in the end result. Every logo project possesses it’s share of difficulties, however the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for South Holland publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, but it really is the most necessary part of a published book considering that it is often the very first thing a person sees in the book shop. For a publisher, it’s the best opportunity they will likely ever get to promote their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go however it seems like that in many occurrences one of the aspects folks often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a good sense of airline flight and it was certainly a victory.

South Holland logo layout used for marketing as well as a label design for Vintage Situation includes an archaic font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand-new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be older cases. For this brand design I attempted to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for everything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different point in time.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in South Holland, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can be one of the most difficult logo design jobs because it seems that almost every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company branding, if restaurants approached their branding in the very same way dental practices do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually love doing dental business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 characters staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the families in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo that conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to summarize exactly how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo design created for a South Holland hair style studio including a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo which related a spirit of ease and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a design which did not go the obvious route of creating just a stylized orchid but instead delivered a company logo which suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is more often than not the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the main focus on the feeling that they really wanted to project to their customers.

Arabian equine logo design developed for a steed ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian show equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a unique organization logo design fashioned to exemplify the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of equines. With a different head form and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly immediately recognizable equine lineages in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A South Holland restaurant logo layout a tiny restaurant, style includes a modified manuscript font style which floats over a team of elaborate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo layout a tiny dining establishment, design consists of a modified script font style which floats above a group of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Logo style for a software program designer the style features as well as legendary South Holland aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it represented something to the owner of the business and in many cases the substance behind a company logo is just as important as how it serves the organization it stands for.

Progress logo layout created for a South Hollandinterior developer, design attribute a collection of red circles that converge and change the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a South Holland interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is somebody who plans, investigates, collaborates, and manages such ventures. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that consists of conceptual development, area planning, site evaluations, programming, research study, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and implementation of the design.

logo layout provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in South Holland, the personalities for letter V and also A in middle of words progressed have been customized to link straight into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular South Holland logo design assignment was undertaken for a management consultant that enables business leaders to develop into more successful at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A South Holland business logo design including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly realized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a location to sell their used goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their South Holland logo design along with an illustration which pulls in the interest of vehicles and sends an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this South Holland company logo design has actually a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t actually composed for an South Holland regional farm it was actually designed for a products broker, and this particular creative logo was one of several which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to produce a brand mark that projects confidence, financial success, and luxury.

South Holland Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo style attribute for externally encountering arrowhead and also the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the opportunity to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye in the absence of understanding where the target is. Thankfully, in this case, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo design created for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is evocative a popular South Holland sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted dozens of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked directly with the proprietor to create a logo that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
