TIPS ON PICKING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design agency presents a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they simply cannot reimburse the amount of time you invest which is eminently more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but ultimately a designer can only be determined from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio does not contain actual examples chances are they won’t be able to produce a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be understood and remembered, and it’s purpose is to mirror your personal vision for your organization. If a logo designer is not focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how quickly they can get paid.

Streamwood LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping small business owners develop notable brands. We have undertaken logo design work for builders, educational institutions, diamond miners, wedding singers, cafes, retail stores, and practically every other kind of business concern you can think of. What makes ImageCo different compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every branding project as if it will be employed as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first approach our logo designs can, and have been used in everything from fashion labels to electrical signs. Our sign first approach ensures that our logos are just as successful whether they are used in TV commercials or website apps, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and always remembered regardless of scale or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

Something that seriously sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you might have found on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are brought on board to perform, we do in-house. Regardless of the type of design project we take on, logo, web site, trade show booth, or retail sign, we do not, and never will farm out our customer’s work to 3rd parties based outside the US. Whenever you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that increases the cost of your design project and determines the terms of how you and I do business.

QUALITIES OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Every new Streamwood company realizes that they require a logo, however few start ups fully realize the essential role their logo design will perform in their becoming successful, or why one business logo works far better than another. A logo has an instant and long term impact on the success of a business, pick the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Streamwood businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t need consideration, they can be comprehended in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from label to store signs a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be enduring and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It is both a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the act of denoting something to make sure that it could be identified, its foundation comes from the mark branded onto livestock. Nowadays a brand indicates practically anything with an objective, regardless of whether it be revenue or political parties, a brand is an innate aspect of specifying the worth of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s sexy sister, they are both from the very same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest targeted at a target market, it’s objective is to create an image that the target market can relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and identity design. When somebody mentions the names Porsche or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can deliver us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals purchase those products. Brand image is why individuals buy specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Agencies – If you look back at the origin of a lot of branding companies you’ll find that they are frequently re-branded marketing agencies. When someone says they are in advertising and marketing the majority of people will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or heard are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that specializes in a kind of visual design which helps form the public image of a firm, a product or a company. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, as well as collateral material such as cards, stationery, as well as pamphlets. Some identity designers also develop web sites as well as software interfaces. The important duty of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and an emotional tone with the objective of influencing actions, results and also assumptions.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo design of a bicycle produced for a Streamwood coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and cafe were opening in an old section of the area and wanted to visualize a retro vibe without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I achieved both of these tasks by developing a custom logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide as well as bacteria developed for Streamwood clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which investigates the triggers and consequences of diseases, especially the field of healthcare that deals with the clinical assessment of specimens of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the only instance I recall in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more appealing, more interest grabbing and much more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping green frog made for a household fun facility in Streamwood.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to integrate a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Streamwood travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field because travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but instead communicate emotional experiences by means of the images they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they oftentimes convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Streamwood logo design but also to illustrate the depth of her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Streamwood logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I really enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family did not share his scorn for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge all of them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get honest viewpoints on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Business logos are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo design recognize how essential a logo design is for their business so they are much more vested in the end result. Every logo project possesses it’s share of hurdles, but the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Streamwood publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most necessary part of a published book since it is in most cases the primary thing a person sees in the book shop. Regarding a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will likely ever get to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it seems like that in many cases 1 of the things people usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young startup commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a spirit of air travel and it was definitely a victory.

Streamwood logo style utilized for marketing and also a label style for Vintage Case includes an archaic font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be antique cases. For this business logo design I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be used for anything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Streamwood, layout consist of an arc with lines converging via it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo design projects considering that it seems that every single dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dentists do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really enjoy doing dentistry logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family nonprofit, the logo features 4 characters staggered in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to illustrate exactly how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that describes itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo design developed for a Streamwood hair style workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a business logo that related an atmosphere of relaxation and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a design that didn’t go the obvious route of crafting simply a stylized orchid but instead delivered a company logo which suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is more often than not the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately put the attention on the feeling that they wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian steed logo layout produced for a horse cattle ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian show equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted a unique logo concept fashioned to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of horses. By having an identifiable head form and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the highly immediately identifiable equine breeds in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Streamwood restaurant logo style a tiny dining establishment, layout includes a changed script font style which hovers over a team of ornate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a tiny restaurant, layout contains a modified script font style which floats over a team of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Logo layout for a software application programmer the design attributes and also famous Streamwood component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection between the software and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the substance behind a logo design is just as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

Progress logo style developed for a Streamwoodinterior designer, design function a series of red circles that intersect as well as replace the letter O in the middle of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Streamwood interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who plans, explores, coordinates, and manages such projects. Interior design is a diverse profession that involves conceptual development, space planning, location evaluations, programming, investigation, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo design done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Streamwood, the characters for letter V and A in middle of the word progressed have actually been customized to link straight into words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Streamwood logo design job was done for a leadership specialist that assists business leaders to develop into more effective at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Streamwood business logo layout featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly understood the market was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a place to market their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Streamwood logo design design along with an illustration which seizes the attention of traffic and projects an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this Streamwood company logo design has actually a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo design wasn’t actually composed for an Streamwood area farm it was really devised for an investments broker, and this logo design was one of a handful of that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to generate an identity that projected esteem, financial success, and luxury.

Streamwood Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for outwardly dealing with arrow as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the opportunity to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of recognizing where the target is. Luckily, in this particular instance, I nailed a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo developed for the use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is similar to a famous Streamwood sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created loads of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked directly with the business owner to develop a business logo which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
