STRATEGIES FOR DETERMINING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design company presents a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they can not reimburse the time you commit which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many design firms talk a good game but ultimately a design firm can only be judged by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t feature actual samples chances are they won’t be able to deliver a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be understood and be unforgettable, and it’s objective is to mirror your personal vision for your organization. If a designer isn’t focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how fast they will get paid.

Vernon Hills LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs develop memorable brands. We’ve performed branding work for ranchers, universities, diamond miners, party planners, bistros, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business concern you can envision. What makes ImageCo different compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every branding project as though it will be employed as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first method our logo designs can, and have been utilized in everything from clothing labels to neon signs. Our sign first method insures that our logos are just as successful whether they are used in television commercials or web headers, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and remembered irrespective of scale or use.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that truly sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you probably have encountered in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are contracted to perform, we perform in-house. Regardless of the type of project we undertake, logo design, web site, trade show banners, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our client’s projects to companies based outside the United States. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that marks up the cost of your design project and dictates the terms of how you and I do business.

QUALITIES OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Vernon Hills company understands that they need a logo, however few new business owners fully recognize the essential role their business logo will perform in their becoming successful, or why one logo design works far better than another. A logo design has a critical and sustaining influence on the growth of a business, select the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the life span of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Vernon Hills businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require deliberation, they can be comprehended in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to posters a scalable business logo will be legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the item or business they brand.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be enduring and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s a verb and also a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the process of marking something so that it can be recognized, its origin comes from the mark branded onto livestock. These days a brand signifies pretty much anything with a motive, whether it be revenue or political parties, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the worth of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s sexy sister, they are both from the exact same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest directed at a specific audience, it’s goal is to develop a mental image that the target market can connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When somebody mentions the names Ferrari or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and that is what makes people want those brands. Brand image is why people get specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Firms – If you reflect on the history of most branding companies you’ll discover that they are quite often re-branded marketing and advertising companies. When someone says they are in marketing the majority of people will likely have an idea about what they do. But when a person states “I am in branding”… it just seems much more impressive, perhaps it’s since most individuals do not understand what it implies to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and attractive.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that explains the visual components of a product or agency that influence understandings. This mostly consists of the name, the logo design, the packaging, the colors used yet can also include audio, lighting, texture, signs, actually anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that specializes in a type of visual design which helps shape the image of a firm, a product or a business. Brand identity designers create logo designs, signage designs, packaging, and also collateral material such as cards, stationery, and brochures. Some visual designers also build sites as well as software interfaces. The important role of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the objective of influencing actions, end results and also understandings.

select SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo design of a bicycle developed for a Vernon Hills coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening in an old part of the area and really wanted to project an old-fashioned vibe without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved each of the tasks via creating a business logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide as well as germs designed for Vernon Hills clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the causes and consequences of diseases, especially the field of healthcare which deals with the laboratory examination of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more interesting, more focus grabbing and more meaningful.

logo layout with a jumping green frog made for a family enjoyable center in Vernon Hills.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and a tree - made for Vernon Hills traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but rather convey emotional experiences by means of the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they often tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with mere words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Vernon Hills logo but also to illustrate the depth to her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Vernon Hills logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design projects that I take on I seriously enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but my customer, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man really loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family didn’t share his aversion for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to discuss it with colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get honest viewpoints on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they adored the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo understand how important a logo is for their business so they are much more vested in the final result. Every logo design project possesses it’s allotment of hurdles, but the biggest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, style for Vernon Hills publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin parcel of real estate to work with, but it is the most crucial part of a printed book considering that it is ordinarily the very first thing a person sees in the book shop. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the opportunity they will ever have to promote their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go but it seems like that in many instances 1 of the traits folks tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young fledgling commuter/shuttle airline situated in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a spirit of air travel and it was surely a success.

Vernon Hills logo layout made use of for advertising and a label design for Vintage Instance includes an antiquated font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be antique cases. For this custom logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that provided a fluid retro feel to it and could be used for every thing from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Vernon Hills, design include an arc with lines intersecting with it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs due to the fact that it seems that every single dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dentists do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I actually love doing dentist logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities staggered in height to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to explain how people should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a Vernon Hills hair style workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo that related an atmosphere of simplicity and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a design that did not go the obvious route of creating merely a stylized orchid but instead created a company logo that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the concept using the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is more often than not the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the importance on the emotion that they really wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo layout created for an equine ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian show steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a one-of-a-kind creative logo concept customized to manifest the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of equines. With a distinctive head shape and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the highly easily identifiable equine lineages in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Vernon Hills restaurant logo design a small dining establishment, layout consists of a modified manuscript font style which floats above a team of elaborate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a little restaurant, design contains a customized script font style which floats over a group of ornate lines and also dots.

Logo layout for a software program developer the design functions and renowned Vernon Hills component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection in between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it symbolized something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the symbolism behind a business logo is equally as important as how it serves the organization it represents.

Evolve logo layout created for a Vernon Hillsinterior designer, design function a collection of red circles that intersect and also replace the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Vernon Hills interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who arranges, investigates, collaborates, and manages such tasks. Interior design is a diverse profession that includes conceptual development, area planning, site evaluations, programming, research, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Vernon Hills, the characters for letter V and also A in middle of words advanced have actually been changed to connect directly right into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Vernon Hills logo design project was carried out for a management advisor that enables business professionals to develop into more successful at supervising people, expectations, and productivity.

A Vernon Hills business logo layout featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly understood the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a spot to sell their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Vernon Hills business logo design using a graphic that garners the interest of vehicles and sends an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo layout MQ ranches, this Vernon Hills company logo style has actually a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem design wasn’t really developed for an Vernon Hills regional farm it was really designed for a commodities broker, and this particular company logo was one of multiple which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to produce an identity that projected self-assurance, effectiveness, and opulence.

Vernon Hills Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo design attribute for externally encountering arrowhead and also the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design that they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the opportunity to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this particular instance, I hit a bullseye with the first try.

Logo created for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is evocative a popular Vernon Hills sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed dozens of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked closely with the owner to produce a logo design which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
