TIPS FOR IDENTIFYING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design company offers a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can’t refund the amount of time you invest which is eminently more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but inevitably a designer can only be judged from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t contain real life samples chances are they will never be able to produce a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s purpose is to reflect your personal vision for your organization. If a logo designer isn’t focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

Wheeling LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping business owners establish notable brands. We’ve done branding work for ranchers, universities, heart surgeons, wedding singers, coffee roasters, retailers, and practically every other kind of business concern you can imagine. What makes ImageCo different compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every branding project as if it will be employed as an electric sign. Because of our sign first technique our identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from garment labels to neon signs. Our sign first approach guarantees that our logo designs are just as effective whether they are used in television commercials or web applications, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and always remembered irrespective of scale or function.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which really sets ImageCo apart from other design companies that you might have come across in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are enlisted to do, we perform in-house. No matter the kind of project we take on, logo design, website design, trade show booth, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will farm out our client’s projects to organizations based outside the United States. When you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that marks up the cost of your design project and determines the terms of how my customers and I conduct business.

ASPECTS OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Wheeling organization understands that they require a logo, yet few start-ups thoroughly realize the vital role their logo design will make in their financial success, or why one logo design performs better than another. A business logo has a critical and lasting effect on the prosperity of a business, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of an organization. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Wheeling companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require scrutiny, they can be grasped in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from label to retail signs a scalable business logo will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the item or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be enduring and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the act of noting something to ensure that it can be recognized, its foundation comes from the brand burned onto animals. These days a brand symbolizes virtually anything with an intention, whether it be earnings or political parties, a brand is an inherent aspect of defining the worth of a specific thing in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s attractive sister, they are both from the same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition aimed at a target audience, it’s objective is to produce a mental image that the audience can relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When somebody mentions the names Lamborghini or Mustang what we think of is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, elegance, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and that is what makes people purchase those brands. Brand image is why people get specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Agencies – If you reflect on the origin of a lot of branding companies you’ll find that they are frequently rebranded marketing and advertising agencies. When someone states they are in advertising and marketing most individuals will likely have an idea about what they do. Yet when someone claims “I’m in branding”… it simply sounds more attractive, probably it’s since lots of people don’t recognize what it indicates to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and attractive.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that describes the visual aspects of a product or business that affect understandings. This primarily includes the name, the logo design, the packaging, the different colors used but can also consist of audio, illumination, texture, signs, actually anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that focuses on a kind of visual design that helps shape the public image of a firm, a product or a business. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, packaging, and also collateral material such as business cards, stationery, as well as pamphlets. Some identity designers also develop websites and user interfaces. The important duty of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and also an emotional tone with the objective of influencing actions, results and also understandings.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo design of a bicycle produced for a Wheeling coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening in an old section of the area and wished to visualize a vintage atmosphere without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I accomplished both jobs via designing a custom logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo style with a microscope slide and also bacteria created for Wheeling clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that researches the triggers and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of medicine which works with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recollect in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Usually I try not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, yet it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping eco-friendly frog made for a household fun facility in Wheeling.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to feature a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo including a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and also a tree - made for Wheeling traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead communicate emotional experiences through the photos they record. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of most good photographers in that they frequently tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with just words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Wheeling logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Wheeling logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design jobs that I take on I really relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however the client, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy really hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family didn’t share his hatred for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral judgements on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo comprehend how essential a logo design is for their business so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo job possesses it’s share of difficulties, however the largest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Wheeling publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped parcel of real estate to work with, but it is the most essential part of a published book because it is often the first thing a person views in the bookstore. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the opportunity they will ever have to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go nevertheless it seems that in many cases one of the things people often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a spirit of airline flight and it was surely a winner.

Wheeling logo style utilized for advertising and also a label design for Vintage Instance includes an old font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be older cases. For this logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for every thing from a website to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different generation.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Wheeling, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can be one of the most challenging logo design jobs considering that it appears that each and every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dental offices do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I actually love doing dental logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family members nonprofit, the logo features 4 characters startled in elevation to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo that conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to illustrate exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo layout developed for a Wheeling hair layout studio including a script font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a business logo which conveyed a feeling of contentment and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a design which did not go the obvious course of creating merely a stylized orchid but rather designed a business logo that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is more often than not the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the attention on the feeling that they really wanted to project to their clients.

Arabian steed logo style produced for an equine ranch that specializes in breeding Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a distinct company logo concept fashioned to manifest the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. With a different head form and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most immediately recognizable horse breeds in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Wheeling restaurant logo layout a little dining establishment, style contains a customized script font style which floats above a group of ornate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a small restaurant, design consists of a changed manuscript font style which hovers over a group of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Logo style for a software developer the layout features and also legendary Wheeling component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge in between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the owner of the business and in many cases the substance supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it serves the company it represents.

Develop logo layout developed for a Wheelinginterior designer, layout attribute a series of red circles that converge and change the letter O in the middle of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Wheeling interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who prepares, explores, coordinates, and oversees such tasks. Interior design is a diverse profession that consists of conceptual development, space planning, location assessments, programming, study, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Wheeling, the personalities for letter V as well as A in middle of words progressed have been changed to connect directly into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Wheeling logo design assignment was carried out for a leadership advisor that helps business leaders to develop into more efficient at supervising people, expectations, and profitability.

A Wheeling business logo layout featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly recognized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a spot to market their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Wheeling business logo design utilizing an illustration that garners the interest of traffic and sends an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo layout MQ ranches, this Wheeling company logo layout has actually a field integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand concept wasn’t really created for an Wheeling regional farm it was really developed for a commodities broker, and this particular trademark was one of a handful of which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to create a image that projects self-assurance, financial success, and luxury.

Wheeling Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo design attribute for externally encountering arrow as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the opportunity to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without recognizing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this particular instance, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo created for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is reminiscent of a famous Wheeling sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking where I worked directly with the proprietor to design a logo design which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
