POINTERS FOR IDENTIFYING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design firm offers a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can’t refund the amount of time you commit which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but ultimately a design agency can only be judged by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t feature actual samples chances are they won’t be able to deliver a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be understood and be unforgettable, and it’s objective is to echo your personal vision for your company. If a logo designer is not focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how soon they can get paid.

Zion LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping small business owners cultivate unforgettable brand identities. We have undertaken brand design work for ranchers, universities, diamond miners, wedding singers, cafes, retailers, and practically every other kind of business you can imagine. What makes ImageCo unique compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every brand identity project as if it will be used as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first method our logo designs can, and have been used in everything from garment labels to neon signs. Our sign first approach guarantees that our logos are equally successful whether they are used in television commercials or website applications, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and always remembered irrespective of size or function.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that seriously sets ImageCo apart from many of the design companies that you might have encountered in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are retained to do, we do ourselves. Irrespective of the type of design project we take on, brand identity design, website, trade show booth, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our customer’s projects to agencies located outside the USA. Whenever you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that increases the cost of your design project and dictates the conditions of how we conduct business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Every new Zion entrepreneur realizes that they probably need a logo, however few new business owners fully grasp the vital role their company logo can make in their financial success, or precisely why one business logo performs better than another. A company logo has an instant and long-term impact on the viability of a business, go with the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Zion companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t need consideration, they can be comprehended in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from label to billboards a scalable business logo will remain legible and equally emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the item or company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be enduring and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s both a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark as well as the act of denoting something to make sure that it can be distinguished, its genesis originates from the mark burned onto animals. Nowadays a brand signifies virtually anything with a motive, whether it be profit or politics, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of specifying the worth of something in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s sexy sister, they are each from the very same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition directed at a specific audience, it’s goal is to create an image that the audience can relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated by advertising and marketing and also identity design. When a person says the names Lamborghini or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, elegance, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals purchase those brands. Brand image is why people buy most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Agencies – If you reflect on the origin of the majority of branding firms you’ll find that they are often re-branded advertising and marketing firms. When a person claims they are in advertising the majority of people will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a designer that specializes in a kind of visual design that helps form the image of a company, a product or an organization. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, and also collateral material such as cards, stationery, as well as sales brochures. Some visual designers also design websites and user interfaces. The essential duty of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the objective of influencing activities, results and perceptions.

select SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo style of a bike created for a Zion coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and cafe were opening in an old section of the city and wanted to visualize a vintage tone without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I achieved each of the tasks by means of designing a company logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria designed for Zion medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare that works with the laboratory assessment of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recollect in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more captivating, more attention grabbing and even more memorable.

logo design with a jumping green frog developed for a family members enjoyable facility in Zion.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental practices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - designed for Zion traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather project emotional experiences through the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they often tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with mere words. I attempted to do something very similar to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Zion logo but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Zion logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design projects that I take on I genuinely savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however my customer, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his hatred for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to talk about it with colleagues and family members as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced viewpoints on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to create their logo recognize how important a logo design is for their company so they are way more invested in the outcome. Every logo design job possesses it’s allotment of challenges, however the largest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, style for Zion publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, but it is the most important part of a printed book due to the fact that it is usually the very first thing a person sees in the book shop. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will likely ever have to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart nevertheless it seems like that in many instances 1 of the items individuals often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a spirit of airline flight and it was certainly a winner.

Zion logo style made use of for advertising and marketing as well as a tag layout for Vintage Instance features an archaic font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be vintage cases. For this brand concept I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another generation.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Zion, style consist of an arc with lines converging with it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs because it appears that every dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental practices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really love doing dental logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 characters startled in height to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to illustrate specifically how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo design produced for a Zion hair style workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo that communicated an atmosphere of serenity and class for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept which did not go the obvious path of designing simply a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a business logo which suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is in most cases the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the main focus on the emotion that they wanted to project to their clients.

Arabian equine logo style produced for a horse cattle ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a one-of-a-kind organization logo design fashioned to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of horses. With a different head form and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly easily identifiable horse lineages in the world.

Las Cafe, A Zion restaurant logo design a little dining establishment, design includes a modified manuscript font style which hovers above a group of ornate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a little dining establishment, style includes a customized script font which floats above a team of elaborate lines and dots.

Logo design for a software application developer the style attributes as well as iconic Zion aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism behind a logo design is just as important as how it brands the business it stands for.

Progress logo layout developed for a Zionindoor designer, layout function a collection of red circles that converge and also replace the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Zion interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is an individual who plans, investigates, collaborates, and oversees such ventures. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that includes conceptual development, space planning, site evaluations, programming, investigation, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and execution of the design.

logo layout provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Zion, the personalities for letter V as well as A in middle of the word advanced have been customized to link straight into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Zion logo design project was undertaken for a management consultant that helps business professionals to develop into more efficient at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Zion business logo style featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly recognized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a spot to sell off their pre-owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Zion logo design along with an illustration that captures the attention of vehicles and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo layout MQ farms, this Zion company logo design has actually an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo concept wasn’t really composed for an Zion regional farm it was actually developed for a commodities broker, and this particular business logo was one of many that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to design an identity that projects trust, effectiveness, and affluence.

Zion Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo design feature for ostensibly dealing with arrow and also the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the opportunity to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of recognizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this case, I struck a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo design created for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is evocative a well-known Zion sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked directly with the proprietor to create a business logo which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
