Bloomington, Indiana Logo Design

Each and every new Bloomington business understands that they are in need of a logo, yet few entrepreneurs fully recognize the key role their business logo can take in their success, or precisely why one business logo works better than another. A logo design has an immediate and sustaining influence on the growth of a company, pick the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a company.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Bloomington, Indiana businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand contemplation, they can be comprehended in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will remain legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be lasting and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo layout of a bike produced for a Bloomington, Indiana coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and cafe were opening up in an old section of the area and really wanted to visualize a nostalgic vibe without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled the two jobs by developing a business logo design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and germs created for Bloomington, Indiana medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that works with the clinical assessment of specimens of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Normally I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo design with a jumping green frog designed for a family members enjoyable center in Bloomington, Indiana.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better enthusiastic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo including a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - designed for Bloomington, Indiana travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but rather project emotional journeys by means of the photos they record. The thought behind this logo design was to use negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they often convey whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I made an effort to do something much the same to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Bloomington logo but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Bloomington logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design jobs that I take on I really enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but the client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man really disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his contempt for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge them to share it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get objective point of views on the worthiness of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logos are a weird creature in the design world because the people that tend to hire an expert to design their logo design recognize how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are way more vested in the end result. Every logo design project possesses it’s share of obstacles, however the biggest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, layout for Bloomington, Indiana publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most critical part of a printed book because it is ordinarily the very first thing a person sees in the book store. Regarding a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will likely ever have to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart but it looks like that in many cases 1 of the things people often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a spirit of air travel and it was surely a winner.

Bloomington logo style utilized for marketing and a label layout for Vintage Instance includes an antiquated typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for music instruments, that looked to be vintage cases. For this business logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid vintage feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a web site to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different generation.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Bloomington, Indiana, style consist of an arc with lines converging via it to imply metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can be one of the most challenging logo design jobs due to the fact that it seems that virtually every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dental practices do every one of their company logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I actually enjoy doing dental care logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family members nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to summarize how people should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo style developed for a hair layout workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo that related a spirit of simplicity and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept which didn’t go the obvious path of designing just a stylized orchid but instead delivered a business logo that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is in most cases the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the importance on the emotion that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Arabian equine logo style developed for a steed cattle ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a distinct custom logo concept tailored to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. By having an identifiable head shape and high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the most easily identifiable horse lineages in the entire world.

Logo layout for a software application developer the design functions and legendary component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge in between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the meaning behind a logo is equally as important as how it serves the business it represents.

A logo design including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a location to market their pre-owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Bloomington logo design dsign with a graphic which seizes the attention of vehicles and sends an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo design has a field integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo concept wasn’t really produced for an Bloomington, Indiana regional farm it was really created for a commodities broker, and this company was one of a handful of that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to make a graphic that projected assurance, success, and affluence.

Bloomington Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo layout function for ostensibly encountering arrow and the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design that they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the freedom to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without realizing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this particular case, I struck a bullseye with the first go.

Logo made for making use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is evocative a famous sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked directly with the proprietor to design a logo design which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
