STRATEGIES ON IDENTIFYING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design company offers a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they simply cannot refund the time you commit which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many design firms talk a good game but inevitably a designer can only be judged by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t contain real life examples chances are they will not be able to produce a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s objective is to echo your unique vision for your business. If a designer isn’t focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how soon they will get paid.

Elkhart LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs establish notable brands. We have performed branding work for ranchers, educational institutions, diamond miners, wedding singers, diners, retailers, and practically every other kind of business you can imagine. What makes ImageCo different compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every logo design project as if it will be employed as an electric sign. Because of our sign first approach our designs can, and have been employed in everything from clothing labels to neon signs. Our sign first approach ensures that our logo designs are just as successful whether they are used in TV commercials or website headers, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and always remembered regardless of scale or application.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which really sets ImageCo apart from other design firms that you may have found online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are brought on board to perform, we do in-house. No matter the kind of project we accept, brand identity design, web site, trade show booth, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will job out our customer’s work to companies based outside the USA. When you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that increases the cost of your project and determines the conditions of how my customers and I conduct business.

ASPECTS OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Elkhart organization understands that they need a logo, yet few new business owners thoroughly understand the crucial role their business logo will make in their financial success, or why one business logo functions more effectively than another. A logo has an immediate and long term effect on the viability of a company, select the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the life span of an organization. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Elkhart businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require contemplation, they can be grasped in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to store signs a scalable logo will continue to be legible and just as emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the item or company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be timeless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s both a verb and also a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the act of noting something so that it could be recognized, its genesis originates from the brand branded onto livestock. Nowadays a brand indicates basically anything with an objective, whether it be profit or politics, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of specifying the value of something in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s attractive cousin, they are each from the same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest directed at a target audience, it’s objective is to create a mental image that the audience can relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When a person says the brand names Lamborghini or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals purchase those brands. Brand image is why individuals identify with most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can relate to.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the history of many branding agencies you’ll find that they are frequently re-branded advertising and marketing agencies. When someone claims they are in advertising and marketing most individuals will likely have a preconceived notion about what they do. Yet when somebody states “I’m in branding”… it just seems much more impressive, probably it’s since most individuals do not recognize what it means to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and maybe even attractive.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that defines the visual aspects of a product or agency that influence perceptions. This primarily includes the name, the logo design, the product packaging, the different colors utilized yet can also consist of sound, lights, texture, signage, just about anything that can be seen, felt or heard become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that concentrates on a kind of visual design which helps shape the image of a firm, a product or a company. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, sign designs, packaging, and also collateral material such as cards, stationery, as well as sales brochures. Some identity designers also design sites and user interfaces. The important role of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues as well as a psychological tone with the goal of affecting activities, end results as well as understandings.

select SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo layout of a bike produced for a Elkhart coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and bistro were opening in an old part of the city and wished to visualize an old-fashioned feel without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled both jobs by means of designing a trademark design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and germs created for Elkhart clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that researches the triggers and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which deals with the clinical evaluation of samplings of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I recall in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents very literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and much more memorable.

logo style with a jumping green frog developed for a household enjoyable center in Elkhart.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better dynamic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design including a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Elkhart travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but instead convey emotional journeys by means of the images they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of the majority of good photographers in that they often convey whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with just words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Elkhart logo but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Elkhart logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design projects that I take on I truly savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however my client, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy genuinely despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members didn’t share his hatred for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to share it with colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get objective opinions on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire an expert to create their business logo recognize how important a logo is for their business so they are much more vested in the final result. Every logo project possesses it’s allotment of hurdles, but the greatest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, style for Elkhart book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin slice of real estate to work with, yet it is the most important part of a published book considering that it is often the very first thing a person sees in the book shop. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will likely ever get to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go yet it looks like that in many occurrences 1 of the items people tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young new venture commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a good sense of flight and it was surely a victory.

Elkhart logo layout used for advertising and a tag layout for Vintage Case includes an antiquated font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be antique cases. For this brand concept I attempted to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Elkhart, layout include an arc with lines converging via it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects considering that it seems that every single dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental practitioners do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would most likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually love doing dental care business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a household nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters startled in height to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to summarize precisely how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that explains itself won’t have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo design created for a Elkhart hair layout studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo which conveyed an atmosphere of serenity and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious direction of creating just a stylized orchid but alternatively created a logo that implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is usually the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead laid the importance on the feeling that they wanted to transmit to their clients.

Arabian steed logo style produced for a horse ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a distinct organization logo concept fashioned to display the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of horses. With a different head shape and high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most easily identifiable horse lineages in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Elkhart restaurant logo layout a little dining establishment, design includes a customized manuscript font style which hovers above a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a small dining establishment, style includes a modified script typeface which hovers above a group of elaborate lines and also dots.

Logo layout for a software application designer the style attributes and also famous Elkhart aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive managing. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the owner of the company and in many cases the meaning behind a logo is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

Progress logo design developed for a Elkhartinterior designer, layout feature a collection of red circles that converge and change the letter O in the middle of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Elkhart interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is somebody who plans, explores, collaborates, and oversees such projects. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that consists of conceptual development, area planning, location evaluations, programming, analysis, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Elkhart, the personalities for letter V as well as A in center of words progressed have been modified to link straight right into words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Elkhart logo design project was undertaken for a leadership consultant that assists business professionals to become more effective at handling people, expectations, and profitability.

A Elkhart business logo design featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a location to sell off their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Elkhart business logo design with an image which garners the attention of vehicles and sends an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.

Logo design MQ farms, this Elkhart company logo layout has actually a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem concept wasn’t actually composed for an Elkhart area farm it was in reality designed for a commodities broker, and this particular logo was one of multiple that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to produce a brand mark that projected confidence, effectiveness, and wealth.

Elkhart Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo layout feature for ostensibly encountering arrowhead and also the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design that they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the opportunity to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye in the absence of recognizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular case, I hit a bullseye with the 1st shot.

Logo designed for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font that is reminiscent of a popular Elkhart sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed quite a lot of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked directly with the business owner to create a logo that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
