Highland Logo Design

Each and every new Highland business knows they are in need of a logo, yet few entrepreneurs fully understand the crucial role their logo design can take in their becoming successful, or why one logo design functions more effectively than another. A business logo has an immediate and long-term effect on the prosperity of a business, pick the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the life of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Highland companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand consideration, they can be comprehended in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will remain legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be timeless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bicycle developed for a Highland coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee shop were opening in an older part of town and wanted to visualize a retro vibe without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I fulfilled the two jobs by means of designing a logo design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and also germs created for Highland medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare which works with the laboratory examination of specimens of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the sole instance I call to mind in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, yet it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more appealing, more attention grabbing and a lot more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping green frog made for a household enjoyable facility in Highland.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Highland traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality because travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather project emotional journeys through the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of almost all good photographers in that they oftentimes convey whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with just words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Highland logo but also to reveal the depth of her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Highland logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but the customer, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members did not share his contempt for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral point of views on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Business logos are a weird animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire an expert to create their logo recognize how vital a logo is for their organization so they are much more invested in the outcome. Every logo design project has it’s portion of difficulties, however the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Highland publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most essential part of a published book because it is often the very first thing a person sees in the book store. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will ever have to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go nevertheless it seems like that in many instances one of the items individuals tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a spirit of flight and it was undoubtedly a victory.

Highland logo style made use of for marketing and a label design for Vintage Instance features an archaic font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be much older cases. For this custom logo design I strove to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another point in time.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Highland, style include an arc with lines intersecting via it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can be one of the most difficult logo jobs due to the fact that it appears that every single dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dentists do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really enjoy doing dentistry business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family members nonprofit, the logo includes 4 personalities surprised in height to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to summarize exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout created for a hair design studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo design which projected an atmosphere of tranquility and class for their new hair salon. I created a design that did not go the obvious route of crafting merely a stylized orchid but rather crafted a logo that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the logo design using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is generally the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the main focus on the perception that they really wanted to forecast to their clients.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo design for a software application programmer the design features and iconic aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk operations. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it meant something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

Evolve logo style developed for a Highland indoor designer, style feature a collection of red circles that converge as well as replace the letter O in the center of the logo style.

A logo style including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a location to sell off their previously owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Highland logo dsign with a graphic which garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo style has actually an area integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t really composed for an Highland regional farm it was really developed for an investments broker, and this brand was one of several that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to produce a brand mark that projects self-confidence, financial success, and prosperity.
Logo made for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font that is reminiscent of a popular sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked directly with the owner to create a logo that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
