Lawrence Logo Design

Virtually every new Lawrence company knows they require a logo, however few new business owners thoroughly realize the essential role their company logo can perform in their financial success, or why one logo performs better than another. A business logo has a critical and lasting influence on the financial success of a company, pick the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the life span of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Lawrence businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require contemplation, they can be grasped in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

Retro logo layout of a bicycle developed for a Lawrence coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and cafe were actually opening in an older section of the community and really wanted to cast a retro feel without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled the two jobs via designing a business logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria made for Lawrence clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that investigates the causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of healthcare that works with the laboratory examination of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recall in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more interesting, more attention grabbing and a lot more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping eco-friendly frog made for a household enjoyable facility in Lawrence.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental practices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to integrate a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and also a tree - designed for Lawrence traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche sector because travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but rather reveal emotional experiences through the images they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they frequently tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Lawrence logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Lawrence logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I honestly relish and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however the client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family did not share his scorn for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased viewpoints on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Business logos are a strange creature in the design world because the people that tend to hire an expert to create their business logo realize how crucial a logo design is for their organization so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo design project possesses it’s portion of obstacles, but the biggest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Lawrence book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin slice of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most necessary part of a published book because it is usually the very first thing a person views in the bookstore. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity they will ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars modified to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go but it seems like that in many instances 1 of the aspects people usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a feeling of flight and it was surely a victory.

Lawrence logo design utilized for marketing and a label style for Vintage Case includes an antiquated typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be vintage cases. For this logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that provided a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Lawrence, design include an arc with lines converging with it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs due to the fact that it appears that every single dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental practitioners do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really enjoy doing dentistry logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a household not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 characters staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to summarize precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo design produced for a hair layout workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a business logo that projected an atmosphere of peace and connection for their new hair studio. I created a concept which didn’t go the obvious route of designing simply a stylized orchid but rather delivered a company logo which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is oftentimes the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the main focus on the feeling that they really wanted to project to their patrons.

Arabian equine logo design produced for an equine cattle ranch that specializes in reproducing Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created an original brand concept tailored to epitomize the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of equines. With a different head shape and very high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly easily recognizable horse lineages in the entire world.

Logo layout for a software application programmer the style attributes and iconic element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk management. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the organization it stands for.

A logo layout including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly knew the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a location to market their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Lawrence business logo dsign using a graphic that garners the interest of vehicles and projects an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo design has a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo design wasn’t really produced for an Lawrence area farm it was really created for a products broker, and this business logo was one of multiple that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was to produce a brand mark that projected self-assurance, financial success, and prosperity.
Logo created for making use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font style that is reminiscent of a renowned sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed loads of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked directly with the owner to design a logo design that worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
