STRATEGIES FOR PICKING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design agency presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they simply cannot refund the amount of time you invest which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but inevitably a design firm can only be evaluated by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio does not feature actual samples chances are they will never be able to produce a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s goal is to mirror your personal vision for your business. If a designer isn’t focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how quickly they can get paid.

Marion LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs grow memorable brand identities. We’ve undertaken brand identity design work for ranchers, schools, diamond miners, party planners, cafes, retail stores, and practically every other kind of business concern you can think of. What makes ImageCo unique compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as if it will be utilized as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first method our identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from fashion labels to electrical signs. Our sign first method guarantees that our logos are equally effective whether they are used in television commercials or website applications, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and remembered irrespective of scale or function.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which truly sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you might have come across on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are contracted to perform, we perform ourselves. Irrespective of the kind of design project we take on, logo design, website design, trade show display, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will job-out our customer’s projects to agencies located outside the US. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that marks up the cost of your project and determines the terms of how we conduct business.

ASPECTS OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Marion entrepreneur realizes that they need a logo, but few new business owners entirely understand the pivotal role their logo design will play in their becoming successful, or why one logo design performs far better than another. A logo has an instant and lasting impact on the success of a business, pick the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, select the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Marion businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require consideration, they can be understood in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from label to store signs a scalable logo will be legible and just as emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the product or organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be timeless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s a verb as well as a noun, it is an identifying mark as well as the act of noting something to ensure that it can be identified, its foundation comes from the mark branded onto livestock. Today a brand represents basically anything with a motive, regardless of whether it be revenue or government agencies, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the worth of a specific thing in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s sexy sister, they are each from the exact same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest directed at a target market, it’s objective is to produce an image that the audience will likely identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated by advertising and marketing and also identity design. When someone mentions the names Lamborghini or Mustang what we think about is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals want those brands. Brand image is why individuals acquire most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can relate to.

Branding Companies – If you look back at the history of a lot of branding firms you’ll discover that they are often re-branded marketing firms. When a person states they are in marketing lots of people will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that concentrates on a kind of visual design that helps shape the perception of a company, a product or a business. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, signage designs, packaging, and also collateral products such as cards, stationery, and brochures. Some visual designers also build web sites and software interfaces. The essential function of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and also an emotional tone with the goal of affecting actions, results and perceptions.

select SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo style of a bike created for a Marion coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually opening in an old section of town and hoped to cast a retro tone without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished each of the tasks via designing a logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and also bacteria developed for Marion clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that analyzes the causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare which deals with the clinical examination of samplings of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I recollect where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo layout with a jumping eco-friendly frog designed for a household fun facility in Marion.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more dynamic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Marion travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession because travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but instead convey emotional journeys through the photos they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they frequently convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be revealed with mere words. I tried to do something the same to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Marion logo but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Marion logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design jobs that I take on I really savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members didn’t share his aversion for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial point of views on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they really liked the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to create their logo comprehend how vital a logo design is for their business so they are much more vested in the outcome. Every logo design project possesses it’s portion of hurdles, however the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, layout for Marion publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped segment of real estate to work with, but it is the most critical part of a printed book since it is in most cases the primary thing a person sees in the bookstore. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will ever get to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart however it seems that in many cases one of the traits individuals tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a spirit of flight and it was certainly a victory.

Marion logo style used for advertising and a tag design for Vintage Case features an archaic typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, which seemed to be older cases. For this brand concept I strove to come up with a logo that provided a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different point in time.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Marion, layout include an arc with lines intersecting through it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo jobs because it seems that almost every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really love doing dental business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a household not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 personalities startled in elevation to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to explain specifically how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo style created for a Marion hair design studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo design which communicated an atmosphere of ease and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious course of crafting just a stylized orchid but rather created a company logo that implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is usually the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the main focus on the emotion that they wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Arabian equine logo layout created for an equine cattle ranch that focuses on reproducing Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a unique organization logo design fashioned to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of equines. With a different head form and high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most immediately recognizable equine breeds in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Marion Coffee shop logo design a little restaurant, style consists of a changed script font which hovers above a team of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo design a little restaurant, style consists of a modified script font which hovers above a team of ornate lines and dots.

Logo style for a software developer the layout features and legendary Marion element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it represented something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the enterprise it represents.

Develop logo design produced for a Marioninterior developer, layout attribute a collection of red circles that intersect and also change the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Marion interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who arranges, researches, coordinates, and manages such ventures. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that involves conceptual development, space planning, site inspections, programming, research, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and execution of the design.

logo style done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Marion, the characters for letter V and also A in middle of words advanced have actually been customized to link straight right into words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Marion logo design project was completed for a management coach that helps business professionals to become more efficient at overseeing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Marion business logo layout including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly realized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to sell their previously owned products to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Marion business logo design with a graphic which garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this Marion company logo style has a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo idea wasn’t really composed for an Marion area farm it was in reality designed for a commodities broker, and this logo was one of a handful of which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to create a brand mark that projected trust, effectiveness, and wealth.

Marion Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo layout attribute for outwardly encountering arrowhead and the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the liberty to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye in the absence of recognizing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st shot.

Logo design created for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font that is similar to a famous Marion sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created loads of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked closely with the owner to design a logo which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
