Merrillville, Indiana Logo Design

Virtually every new Merrillville organization knows they require a logo, but few new business owners fully recognize the essential role their organization logo can play in their financial success, or precisely why one business logo performs more effectively than another. A company logo has an immediate and long term influence on the financial success of a company, pick the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a business.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Merrillville, Indiana companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand contemplation, they can be realized in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will remain legible and equally emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo design of a bike produced for a Merrillville, Indiana coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an old section of the community and wished to cast an old-fashioned vibe without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I achieved the two tasks by developing a custom logo design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and germs created for Merrillville, Indiana clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the triggers and consequences of diseases, especially the field of medicine which works with the laboratory assessment of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the only instance I remember where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves rather literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo layout with a leaping green frog created for a household enjoyable facility in Merrillville, Indiana.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more lively high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Merrillville, Indiana travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather reveal emotional experiences by means of the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Merrillville logo design but also to show the depth of her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Merrillville logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design jobs that I take on I truly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but the customer, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his hatred for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get honest assessments on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo understand how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are much more invested in the end result. Every logo job has it’s allotment of obstacles, however the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, design for Merrillville, Indiana book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, but it really is the most important part of a published book since it is ordinarily the very first thing a person views in the bookstore. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the opportunity that they will likely ever get to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart but it looks like that in many cases one of the items consumers often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest new venture commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a sense of airline flight and it was certainly a victory.

Merrillville logo design used for advertising and marketing and a tag design for Vintage Instance features an archaic typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be vintage cases. For this custom logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that provided a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be used for every thing from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Merrillville, Indiana, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to suggest metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can be one of the most difficult logo design jobs because it seems that each and every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental offices do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really enjoy doing dentistry logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 characters startled in elevation to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to describe how people should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo style produced for a hair style studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a company logo which projected an atmosphere of ease and elegance for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept which didn’t go the obvious route of designing merely a stylized orchid but alternatively created a logo design which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is generally the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the importance on the emotion that they really wanted to forecast to their clients.

Logo layout for a software application programmer the layout features and renowned aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive operations. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge in between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it symbolized something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance supporting a logo is just as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

A logo design including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly knew the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to market their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Merrillville logo design dsign along with an image that garners the interest of traffic and projects an image that wakens the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo layout has a field included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem idea wasn’t actually composed for an Merrillville, Indiana regional farm it was actually developed for a commodities broker, and this brand was one of several which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was to develop a graphic that projects esteem, success, and prosperity.

Merrillville Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo style feature for outwardly dealing with arrowhead as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design that they desired, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the liberty to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without knowing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this case, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st shot.

Logo developed for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font style that is similar to a popular sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed loads of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked directly with the owner to design a logo which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
