Merrillville Logo Design

Each and every new Merrillville organization understands that they are in need of a logo, yet few new business owners entirely grasp the key role their business logo can take in their becoming successful, or the reason that one business logo works more effectively than another. A company logo has a critical and sustaining impact on the financial success of a business, go with the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, select the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Merrillville businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand deliberation, they can be grasped in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will stay legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

Retro logo design of a bike created for a Merrillville coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an old section of the town and wanted to project a retro feel without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both tasks via creating a symbol concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide as well as germs made for Merrillville medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which studies the root causes and consequences of diseases, especially the field of medicine that works with the clinical assessment of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the sole instance I recollect in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping environment-friendly frog created for a family members enjoyable center in Merrillville.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental offices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Merrillville traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality because travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather communicate emotional experiences by means of the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they oftentimes convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I made an effort to do something the same to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Merrillville logo but also to show the depth of her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Merrillville logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design jobs that I take on I really enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A however my client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family did not share his contempt for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get neutral assessments on the merit of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Business logos are a weird creature in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to create their logo recognize how crucial a logo design is for their company so they are way more invested in the final result. Every logo design job has it’s share of challenges, but the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, design for Merrillville book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped parcel of real estate to work with, however it is the most necessary part of a published book since it is ordinarily the very first thing a person views in the book shop. With respect to a publisher, it’s the opportunity they will ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it seems that in many occurrences one of the traits people usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller new venture commuter/shuttle airline situated in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a feeling of flight and it was undoubtedly a success.

Merrillville logo layout utilized for advertising as well as a tag design for Vintage Instance features an old font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be vintage cases. For this brand design I tried to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be utilized for anything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Merrillville, layout include an arc with lines converging with it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most difficult logo design projects due to the fact that it seems that almost every dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental offices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really enjoy doing dentist business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities surprised in height to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to explain specifically how people should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo layout created for a hair style studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo design that carried a spirit of serenity and class for their new hair salon. I created a concept that did not go the obvious path of designing merely a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a logo design that suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is usually the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the emphasis on the perception that they really wanted to forecast to their customers.

Logo style for a software program designer the layout attributes and renowned component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive managing. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the meaning supporting a logo design is just as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

A logo style including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly recognized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a location to sell their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Merrillville logo dsign along with an illustration that garners the interest of vehicles and projects an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo design has actually an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo design wasn’t actually developed for an Merrillville regional farm it was in reality devised for a commodities broker, and this particular logo was one of multiple that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to create a image that projected assurance, financial success, and prosperity.
Logo made for the use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript typeface that is reminiscent of a well-known sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project where I worked directly with the business owner to design a business logo that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
