Richmond Logo Design

Nearly every new Richmond business knows they require a logo, but few entrepreneurs thoroughly comprehend the key role their business logo can play in their success, or precisely why one business logo performs far better than another. A business logo has an immediate and sustaining effect on the success of a business, select the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Richmond companies prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand contemplation, they can be grasped in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the enterprise they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be lasting and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bike created for a Richmond coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and bistro were opening up in an older section of the area and hoped to visualize an old-fashioned tone without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled both jobs by creating a custom logo concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and bacteria made for Richmond medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the triggers and outcomes of diseases, especially the branch of medicine which works with the clinical examination of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Typically I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more interest grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo design with a leaping eco-friendly frog created for a family enjoyable center in Richmond.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the types of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental practices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Richmond travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead reveal emotional experiences by means of the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they frequently tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something the same to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Richmond logo but also to reveal the depth of her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Richmond logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I truly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but the client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man seriously loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family did not share his aversion for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage all of them to share it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get objective opinions on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Business logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their logo understand how essential a logo design is for their company so they are way more invested in the result. Every logo design job possesses it’s allotment of difficulties, however the largest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Richmond publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped slice of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most critical part of a published book considering that it is in most cases the very first thing a person views in the book shop. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will likely ever have to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it seems that in many cases 1 of the items individuals tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small start-up commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a feeling of flight and it was undoubtedly a winner.

Richmond logo layout made use of for advertising and marketing as well as a tag style for Vintage Instance includes an old-fashioned typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, which looked to be much older cases. For this logo design I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid old style feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different point in time.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Richmond, style consist of an arc with lines converging via it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can be one of the most challenging logo jobs because it appears that virtually every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really love doing dental logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family members nonprofit, the logo features 4 characters staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to explain precisely how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If people have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a hair design studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo which related a spirit of ease and class for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept which didn’t go the obvious path of making simply a stylized orchid but instead crafted a logo design which implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept using the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is in most cases the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the importance on the emotion that they wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Logo layout for a software program designer the layout functions and iconic aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and disk operations. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the meaning behind a logo is equally as important as how it serves the business it represents.

A logo layout including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly realized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a spot to sell off their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Richmond logo dsign along with an image that garners the interest of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo design has an area included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand concept wasn’t actually composed for an Richmond regional farm it was actually designed for a commodities broker, and this particular brand was one of many which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to design a graphic that projected trust, success, and luxury.
Logo design designed for using a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is evocative a renowned sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed quite a lot of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked closely with the business owner to create a logo design that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
