South Bend Logo Design

Virtually every new South Bend business understands that they need a logo, yet few new business owners entirely understand the pivotal role their logo will make in their success, or the reason that one logo design performs more effectively than another. A business logo has an immediate and sustaining impact on the prosperity of a company, choose the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help South Bend businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require consideration, they can be comprehended in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and just as emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be lasting and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.

Retro logo design of a bicycle developed for a South Bend coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually opening up in an old section of the community and hoped to visualize a retro tone without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I fulfilled both of these jobs via designing a trademark design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo style with a microscope slide and germs made for South Bend clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that investigates the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which deals with the clinical evaluation of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I recollect in which I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and a lot more meaningful.

logo layout with a jumping green frog made for a household fun facility in South Bend.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo including a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and also a tree - developed for South Bend travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but rather convey emotional experiences by means of the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they often share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  South Bend logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

South Bend logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design jobs that I take on I really relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy really hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members didn’t share his contempt for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage them to talk about it with colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial viewpoints on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family and they loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to design their business logo understand how essential a logo is for their business so they are much more vested in the final result. Every logo project possesses it’s allotment of difficulties, however the largest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, style for South Bend publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, but it is the most essential part of a printed book considering that it is often the first thing a person sees in the book shop. Regarding a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will likely ever have to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it seems that in many cases one of the traits folks tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller new venture commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to affording a feeling of flight and it was undoubtedly a winner.

South Bend logo layout utilized for advertising and marketing as well as a label layout for Vintage Instance includes an old-fashioned font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand-new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be vintage cases. For this custom logo design I attempted to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for every thing from a web site to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different generation.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in South Bend, layout include an arc with lines intersecting via it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects considering that it appears that virtually every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental offices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really enjoy doing dentistry logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family members nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters staggered in elevation to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to explain how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo style developed for a hair design workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a company logo that communicated a feeling of calmness and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious route of creating merely a stylized orchid but rather delivered a logo that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is oftentimes the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the importance on the emotion that they wanted to transmit to their clients.

Logo design for a software developer the layout functions and also renowned component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive operations. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection in between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it intimated something to the owner of the company and in many cases the substance supporting a logo design is just as important as how it brands the organization it stands for.

A logo design featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to sell off their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I created their South Bend business logo dsign using an image which pulls in the interest of traffic and projects an image that wakens the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo design has actually a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t actually designed for an South Bend area farm it was in reality developed for a products broker, and this logo design was one of multiple that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was actually to develop a graphic that projected self-assurance, financial success, and wealth.
Logo developed for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script font that is similar to a famous sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed quite a lot of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project in which I worked closely with the owner to design a business logo that worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
