Valparaiso, Indiana Logo Design

Virtually every new Valparaiso business professional realizes that they need a logo, but few new business owners thoroughly realize the key role their logo design can perform in their becoming successful, or the reason that one logo design functions more effectively than another. A business logo has an immediate and long term impact on the viability of a company, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of an organization.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Valparaiso, Indiana businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand contemplation, they can be grasped in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be ageless and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now.
Retro logo layout of a bike created for a Valparaiso, Indiana coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and cafe were opening in an old section of the community and wished to cast a retro vibe without coming across as boring or low energy. I fulfilled the two jobs by means of designing a business logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide as well as bacteria designed for Valparaiso, Indiana medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which researches the root causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare which works with the laboratory examination of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the sole instance I call to mind where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, yet it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and more meaningful.

logo layout with a jumping eco-friendly frog designed for a family members enjoyable facility in Valparaiso, Indiana.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dentists, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design including a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and a tree - created for Valparaiso, Indiana travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but rather reveal emotional journeys by means of the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of almost all good photographers in that they oftentimes share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with mere words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Valparaiso logo design but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Valparaiso logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design jobs that I take on I honestly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy really disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his hatred for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get objective viewpoints on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they adored the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to design their logo design comprehend how essential a logo is for their organization so they are much more vested in the end result. Every logo project possesses it’s share of challenges, however the most significant obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, design for Valparaiso, Indiana publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin slice of real estate to work with, but it is the most necessary part of a printed book given that it is often the initial thing a person views in the book store. Concerning a publisher, it’s the opportunity that they will ever get to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it seems like that in many instances one of the aspects consumers usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a feeling of airline flight and it was undoubtedly a success.

Valparaiso logo style utilized for marketing and also a label design for Vintage Instance includes an archaic font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be older cases. For this brand concept I attempted to come up with a logo that provided a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be utilized for anything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Valparaiso, Indiana, style consist of an arc with lines converging through it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects because it appears that almost every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business advertising, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really love doing dentist business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family members nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters startled in height to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to summarize specifically how people should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo style developed for a hair layout studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo design that communicated a sense of serenity and class for their new hair studio. I came up with a design which didn’t go the obvious route of creating just a stylized orchid but alternatively designed a logo design which suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the logo design along with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is more often than not the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the importance on the feeling that they wanted to project to their patrons.

Logo design for a software program developer the design features and also legendary aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and hard drive management. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it represented something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a company logo is equally as important as how it serves the organization it stands for.

A logo layout featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly realized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to sell their pre-owned items to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Valparaiso logo dsign utilizing a graphic that grabs the interest of traffic and projects an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo design has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo concept wasn’t actually designed for an Valparaiso, Indiana regional farm it was in reality devised for a commodities broker, and this company was one of a handful of which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to design a graphic that projected esteem, effectiveness, and luxury.

Valparaiso Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo layout attribute for ostensibly dealing with arrowhead and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the opportunity to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where the target is. Fortunately, in this case, I hit a bullseye with the very first try.

Logo design created for the use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script font style that is similar to a well-known sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed loads of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked closely with the owner to create a logo that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
