TIPS ON IDENTIFYING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design company presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they can not refund the time you invest which is eminently more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but ultimately a design firm can only be determined by the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio does not feature actual examples chances are they will never be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s objective is to reflect your unique vision for your organization. If a logo designer isn’t focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how soon they can get paid.

Vincennes LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping small business owners establish unforgettable brand identities. We have done brand design work for builders, universities, diamond miners, party planners, coffee roasters, retailers, and virtually every other kind of business you can imagine. What makes ImageCo different compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as if it will be used as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first strategy our brand identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from fashion labels to electrical signs. Our sign first technique insures that our logos are equally effective whether they are used in TV commercials or website apps, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and remembered irrespective of scale or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which seriously sets ImageCo apart from many of the design companies that you probably have encountered online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are retained to do, we do ourselves. Regardless of the kind of design project we accept, brand identity design, web site, trade show exhibition, or retail sign, we do not, and never will contract out our customer’s work to 3rd parties based outside the US. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that increases the price of your design project and dictates the terms of how we conduct business.

QUALITIES OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new Vincennes business understands that they probably need a logo, but few start ups fully understand the pivotal role their company logo will perform in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo performs better than another. A logo has a critical and lasting influence on the growth of a company, pick the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Vincennes businesses prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require contemplation, they can be understood in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to posters a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or business they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be enduring and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It is both a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the process of denoting something to ensure that it could be distinguished, its origin comes from the mark burned onto animals. Today a brand signifies basically anything with a motive, whether it be profit or politics, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the worth of a specific thing in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s attractive sister, they are all from the exact same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition targeted at a target market, it’s objective is to develop a mental image that the audience will connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated by advertising and marketing and identity design. When a person states the names Porsche or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can deliver us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people purchase those products. Brand image is why people buy most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the origin of a lot of branding firms you’ll discover that they are quite often rebranded marketing agencies. When someone claims they are in marketing many people will likely have an idea about what they do. But when a person states “I’m in branding”… it simply sounds more impressive, possibly it’s due to the fact that many people do not recognize what it suggests to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and perhaps even attractive.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that defines the visual elements of a product or agency that affect understandings. This largely consists of the name, the logo, the packaging, the different colors used yet can also consist of audio, lighting, texture, signs, just about anything that can be seen, felt or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that focuses on a type of visual design which helps form the public image of a company, a product or a company. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, and collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and brochures. Some visual designers also design sites and user interfaces. The important role of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the objective of affecting actions, end results and perceptions.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo design of a bicycle created for a Vincennes coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and cafe were opening in an old section of the city and wished to visualize a vintage feel without appearing as boring or low energy. I achieved both of these jobs by developing a business logo design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and also bacteria designed for Vincennes medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that investigates the causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare which works with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I call to mind in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Usually I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, yet it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more captivating, more interest grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog designed for a family members fun center in Vincennes.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental practices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - created for Vincennes traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but rather project emotional experiences through the images they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they oftentimes share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with just words. I made an effort to do something the same to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Vincennes logo design but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Vincennes logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I honestly savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but my client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy seriously disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family did not share his hatred for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to share it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased viewpoints on the merit of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logos are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo understand how crucial a logo is for their company so they are much more vested in the outcome. Every logo job has it’s allotment of challenges, but the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Vincennes publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most necessary part of a published book considering that it is usually the first thing a person sees in the bookstore. Regarding a publisher, it’s the best opportunity they will ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go but it seems like that in many instances 1 of the things individuals tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a spirit of flight and it was definitely a success.

Vincennes logo design utilized for advertising and marketing as well as a tag layout for Vintage Instance includes an antiquated font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be older cases. For this business logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid vintage feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another generation.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Vincennes, layout consist of an arc with lines converging through it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs due to the fact that it appears that every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental practices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I actually love doing dental business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family members not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities startled in height to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization hopes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to illustrate specifically how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that explains itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout produced for a Vincennes hair layout workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo which projected a spirit of simplicity and class for their new hair studio. I came up with a design that didn’t go the obvious direction of designing just a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a company logo that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is oftentimes the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the main focus on the emotion that they really wanted to forecast to their customers.

Arabian steed logo style developed for a steed ranch that specializes in breeding Arabian show steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a distinct organization logo design tailored to epitomize the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of horses. By having a distinctive head form and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most easily identifiable equine breeds in the world.

Las Cafe, A Vincennes restaurant logo layout a small restaurant, design includes a customized manuscript font style which floats over a group of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a tiny restaurant, style consists of a changed script font which hovers over a team of ornate lines and dots.

Logo style for a software application designer the design attributes and iconic Vincennes aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive managing. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a connection in between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the owner of the business and in many cases the significance behind a logo is equally as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

Advance logo design developed for a Vincennesinterior designer, design function a series of red circles that converge and change the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Vincennes interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who plans, explores, collaborates, and manages such tasks. Interior design is a diverse profession that involves conceptual development, space planning, location evaluations, programming, investigation, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Vincennes, the characters for letter V as well as A in middle of words progressed have actually been changed to connect straight into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Vincennes logo design project was carried out for a management advisor that assists business professionals to become more successful at managing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Vincennes business logo design featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly recognized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a spot to market their secondhand items to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Vincennes business logo design utilizing an image which garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that wakens the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this Vincennes company logo layout has actually an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo design wasn’t really produced for an Vincennes area farm it was really designed for a commodities broker, and this trademark was one of multiple which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to create a graphic that projects assurance, effectiveness, and opulence.

Vincennes Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo layout attribute for outwardly dealing with arrow and also the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the freedom to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without knowing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this particular case, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo created for the use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script typeface that is reminiscent of a renowned Vincennes sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created dozens of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked directly with the owner to design a logo design which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
