Iowa Logo Design

Nearly every new Iowa company understands that they need a logo, however few new business owners thoroughly grasp the pivotal role their logo design will play in their success, or precisely why one logo design functions far better than another. A company logo has an instant and long term effect on the financial success of a business, pick the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life of an organization.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Iowa  companies prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not demand consideration, they can be understood in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from labels to signboards a scalable logo will stay legible and equally emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be timeless and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.
Retro logo layout of a bicycle created for a Iowa, Iowa coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and cafe were actually opening up in an older section of town and hoped to visualize a vintage tone without coming across as boring or low energy. I accomplished both tasks by designing a logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide as well as germs created for Iowa, Iowa clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which analyzes the root causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of medicine which works with the clinical evaluation of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the sole instance I recollect in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping green frog designed for a household enjoyable center in Iowa, Iowa.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better dynamic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Iowa, Iowa traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather convey emotional experiences through the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo design was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be revealed with mere words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Iowa logo design but also to show the depth in her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Iowa logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design jobs that I take on I seriously enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but my client, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his scorn for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge them to share it with colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get objective opinions on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo recognize how essential a logo is for their business so they are much more invested in the outcome. Every logo project has it’s allotment of hurdles, but the most significant challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, style for Iowa, Iowa publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, yet it is the most important part of a printed book due to the fact that it is usually the primary thing a person sees in the bookstore. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity they will ever get to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it seems that in many occurrences one of the aspects individuals usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a sense of air travel and it was certainly a victory.

Iowa logo design used for advertising and also a tag layout for Vintage Case features an old typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, which seemed to be older cases. For this logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that provided a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different generation.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Iowa, Iowa, design consist of an arc with lines converging through it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo design jobs because it seems that virtually every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental offices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really love doing dentistry logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family members nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters staggered in height to represent a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to explain specifically how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that explains itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout produced for a hair style workshop including a script font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo which conveyed a sense of relaxation and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a design that did not go the obvious course of crafting simply a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a business logo that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is usually the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the emphasis on the perception that they really wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Logo style for a software application designer the layout attributes as well as renowned aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a bridge between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the meaning supporting a company logo is just as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

A logo style including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a location to sell off their secondhand equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Iowa business logo dsign using a graphic that seizes the attention of vehicles and sends an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo layout has actually a field incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem idea wasn’t actually composed for an Iowa, Iowa area farm it was actually designed for an investments broker, and this particular business logo was one of a handful of which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to produce a brand mark that projected self-assurance, financial success, and prosperity.

Iowa Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo design feature for outwardly dealing with arrow and the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the flexibility to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of recognizing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this particular instance, I hit a bullseye with the first try.

Logo design created for making use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is reminiscent of a renowned sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked directly with the business owner to design a logo design which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
