Iowa Logo Design

Nearly every new Iowa venture knows they need a logo, yet few entrepreneurs thoroughly realize the crucial role their company logo will play in their financial success, or precisely why one logo works far better than another. A business logo has an immediate and long term effect on the financial success of a company, pick the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the life of a business.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Iowa businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand contemplation, they can be realized in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will stay legible and equally emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the company they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be enduring and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo design of a bicycle produced for a Iowa coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company

This startup coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually opening in an older section of the city and really wanted to visualize an old-fashioned tone without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I accomplished both jobs via developing a custom logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide as well as bacteria created for Iowa clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design Project

Pathology is the scientific discipline that examines the root causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare that works with the clinical evaluation of samplings of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the sole instance I recall where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Normally I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog designed for a household enjoyable center in Iowa.

Cool Springs | Retail Branding Project

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dentists, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and also a tree - made for Iowa travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but rather communicate emotional experiences by means of the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they oftentimes convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I attempted to do something the same to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Iowa logo but also to illustrate the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Iowa logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design Project

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I truly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but the customer, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members didn’t share his aversion for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge all of them to talk about it with friends and family as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral point of views on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo comprehend how essential a logo design is for their organization so they are way more invested in the outcome. Every logo design job possesses it’s allotment of obstacles, however the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Iowa book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design Project

The book spine is a narrow segment of real estate to work with, however it is the most critical part of a published book because it is often the initial thing a person sees in the book store. Regarding a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will ever have to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books. This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design Project

Airlines come and depart yet it seems that in many occurrences 1 of the things folks usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a sense of flight and it was undoubtedly a victory.

Iowa logo style used for advertising and a label style for Vintage Instance includes an old font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design Project

Vintage case focused in brand new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this logo design I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for every thing from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another point in time.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Iowa, layout include an arc with lines converging via it to suggest metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design Project

Dentistry logo designs can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects because it seems that every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental professionals do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry. I really love doing dental business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on. Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.
William McNally logo made for a household not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters staggered in elevation to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design Project

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to communicate. The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to illustrate specifically how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that describes itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.
Logo style developed for a hair design workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a business logo which conveyed a sense of peace and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a concept which did not go the obvious route of designing just a stylized orchid but rather created a logo that suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl featured into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is more often than not the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the main focus on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their clients.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design Project

Las Coffee shop logo style a little dining establishment, design includes a customized manuscript typeface which floats over a group of elaborate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design Project

Las Cafe logo layout a tiny dining establishment, layout contains a modified script typeface which hovers above a group of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Logo style for a software designer the design attributes and legendary component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design Project

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive managing. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it intimated something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the substance behind a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the business it represents.

Advance logo design produced for a Iowa interior developer, design function a collection of red circles that converge as well as change the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design Project

logo layout provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions, the personalities for letter V and also A in center of the word advanced have been customized to tie directly right into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Iowa logo design project was undertaken for a management guide that enables business leaders to become more successful at overseeing people, expectations, and profitability.
A logo style including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly understood the market was ready for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a spot to market their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Iowa logo design utilizing an image which captures the attention of traffic and sends an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo design MQ ranches, this logo design has actually a field integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design

The MQ farms emblem concept wasn’t actually designed for an Iowa regional farm it was in reality devised for a commodities broker, and this particular business logo was one of multiple that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to produce a graphic that projected self-confidence, financial success, and prosperity.

Iowa Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo design function for outwardly dealing with arrow and also the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design they desired, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the flexibility to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without realizing where the target is. Thankfully, in this particular case, I hit a bullseye with the very first try.

Logo made for using an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is reminiscent of a well-known sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Branding

I’ve crafted dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked directly with the proprietor to create a business logo which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
