Ankeny Logo Design

Virtually every new Ankeny organization knows they need a logo, but few entrepreneurs fully comprehend the key role their company logo will perform in their financial success, or why one logo design works far better than another. A logo has an immediate and long-term impact on the success of a business, select the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Ankeny companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand scrutiny, they can be comprehended in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will stay legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.

Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Ankeny coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an older part of town and wished to cast a nostalgic tone without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I accomplished the two tasks by means of creating a trademark design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and also germs created for Ankeny clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that examines the triggers and effects of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare that deals with the laboratory examination of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the sole instance I recall where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Generally I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, yet it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more appealing, more attention grabbing and much more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping eco-friendly frog created for a family members fun facility in Ankeny.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Ankeny travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession because travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather convey emotional experiences by means of the images they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they frequently convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with just words. I made an effort to do something much the same to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Ankeny logo design but also to reveal the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Ankeny logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design projects that I take on I seriously take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however my client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family did not share his hatred for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to talk about it with colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced judgements on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they adored the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to create their logo understand how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are much more invested in the final result. Every logo job has it’s allotment of challenges, however the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Ankeny publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin piece of real estate to work with, but it is the most essential part of a printed book since it is often the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will ever have to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it seems like that in many instances 1 of the things consumers tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young fledgling commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a sense of airline flight and it was definitely a victory.

Ankeny logo design utilized for marketing and also a label layout for Vintage Case includes an old-fashioned font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for musical instruments, which appeared to be vintage cases. For this logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a website to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different point in time.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Ankeny, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs because it seems that every single dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the very same way dental practices do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would probably contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually love doing dental logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family nonprofit, the logo design features 4 personalities surprised in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to describe precisely how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo style created for a hair design workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo design that projected a sense of peace and class for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept which did not go the obvious route of designing simply a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a logo that suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is frequently the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the main focus on the emotion that they wanted to transmit to their clients.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a tiny dining establishment, style consists of a changed manuscript font which hovers above a team of ornate lines and dots.

Logo design for a software designer the style attributes and iconic element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge in between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the substance supporting a logo design is just as important as how it serves the enterprise it represents.

Progress logo layout produced for a Ankeny indoor designer, layout function a series of red circles that converge as well as replace the letter O in the center of the logo style.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Ankeny logo design job was carried out for a management expert that helps business leaders to develop into more efficient at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A logo layout including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly understood the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a spot to sell off their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Ankeny logo dsign utilizing a graphic that garners the attention of traffic and sends an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo design has a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem concept wasn’t really designed for an Ankeny regional farm it was actually developed for an investments broker, and this particular logo was one of several which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to make an identity that projected self-assurance, effectiveness, and wealth.
Logo designed for making use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font style that is evocative a famous sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked closely with the owner to design a business logo that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
