Cedar Falls, Iowa Logo Design

Each and every new Cedar Falls organization understands that they are in need of a logo, however few entrepreneurs entirely grasp the pivotal role their business logo will play in their becoming successful, or why one logo design functions better than another. A logo design has an instant and long term impact on the financial success of a business, go with the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of an organization.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Cedar Falls, Iowa businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these five things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand contemplation, they can be understood in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from labels to movie screens a scalable logo will remain legible and just as emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be ageless and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.
Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Cedar Falls, Iowa coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and bistro were actually opening up in an old part of the city and wanted to project a vintage tone without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I achieved both tasks by means of designing a symbol design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and also germs developed for Cedar Falls, Iowa medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that investigates the causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that works with the clinical examination of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I remember where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more interest grabbing and more memorable.

logo layout with a leaping environment-friendly frog made for a family members enjoyable center in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a more enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and a tree - made for Cedar Falls, Iowa travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector because travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead reveal emotional experiences through the images they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of most good photographers in that they frequently tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something comparable to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Cedar Falls logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Cedar Falls logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design jobs that I take on I honestly savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man seriously despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his aversion for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge all of them to share it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced assessments on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logo designs are a weird animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo comprehend how vital a logo is for their company so they are much more vested in the outcome. Every logo job has it’s share of obstacles, but the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, layout for Cedar Falls, Iowa book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin slice of real estate to work with, but it is the most important part of a printed book given that it is ordinarily the initial thing a person views in the bookstore. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity they will likely ever get to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it looks like that in many occurrences 1 of the aspects people tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a good sense of airline flight and it was surely a winner.

Cedar Falls logo design utilized for advertising and a label design for Vintage Case includes an old-fashioned font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be older cases. For this business logo design I tried to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Cedar Falls, Iowa, layout consist of an arc with lines converging via it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo design jobs due to the fact that it seems that each and every dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the very same way dental practices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually love doing dental business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family members nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 personalities surprised in height to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to illustrate exactly how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo layout produced for a hair design workshop including a script font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo that communicated a spirit of serenity and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious path of designing simply a stylized orchid but instead created a logo which implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is more often than not the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the attention on the feeling that they really wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Logo style for a software application programmer the style attributes as well as famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive managing. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the meaning behind a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the company it represents.

A logo style including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly knew the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a spot to market their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Cedar Falls business logo dsign using a graphic that pulls in the attention of vehicles and sends an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo style has actually a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t really developed for an Cedar Falls, Iowa regional farm it was actually created for a commodities broker, and this particular creative logo was one of several that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to make an identity that projected self-confidence, effectiveness, and opulence.

Cedar Falls Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo design function for externally facing arrowhead and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design that they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the flexibility to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where the target is. Fortunately, in this particular case, I hit a bullseye with the first go.

Logo design made for using an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font style that is reminiscent of a famous sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the owner to design a logo design which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
