Dubuque Logo Design

Each and every new Dubuque business understands that they require a logo, yet few entrepreneurs fully grasp the key role their logo can perform in their success, or exactly why one logo functions better than another. A business logo has a critical and lasting impact on the prosperity of a company, select the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the life of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Dubuque businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require deliberation, they can be realized in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable business logo will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

Retro logo layout of a bike created for a Dubuque coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening in an older section of the area and really wanted to cast a vintage vibe without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I accomplished the two jobs via developing a business logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo design with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria made for Dubuque clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that investigates the causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of medicine which deals with the clinical examination of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recollect where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Generally I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more interesting, more interest grabbing and more meaningful.

logo layout with a leaping environment-friendly frog made for a family fun center in Dubuque.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a much more dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and a tree - developed for Dubuque traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather project emotional journeys by means of the images they record. The thought behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they frequently convey whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be revealed with just words. I tried to do something much the same to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Dubuque logo but also to illustrate the depth to her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Dubuque logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design projects that I take on I genuinely take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however my client, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy seriously disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his aversion for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to share it with friends and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced point of views on the value of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their logo realize how crucial a logo design is for their company so they are way more vested in the end result. Every logo project has it’s portion of hurdles, however the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, design for Dubuque book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped parcel of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most crucial part of a printed book since it is ordinarily the initial thing a person sees in the book store. For a publisher, it’s the best opportunity that they will likely ever have to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it seems that in many cases 1 of the traits people often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small fledgling commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a spirit of airline flight and it was certainly a success.

Dubuque logo style made use of for advertising as well as a label style for Vintage Case features an old-fashioned font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be older cases. For this brand concept I strove to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be used for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another point in time.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Dubuque, style include an arc with lines intersecting with it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects considering that it seems that each and every dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really enjoy doing dental business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 characters startled in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to describe how people should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo style created for a hair style studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo that communicated a feeling of contentment and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept that didn’t go the obvious course of designing simply a stylized orchid but rather created a logo design that suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is frequently the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the focus on the perception that they wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Logo design for a software programmer the design functions and also renowned component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and disk operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it intimated something to the owner of the company and in many cases the substance supporting a logo design is just as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

A logo layout featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to sell off their previously owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Dubuque logo dsign using a graphic which garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo design has actually an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem idea wasn’t actually produced for an Dubuque regional farm it was really devised for an investments broker, and this particular trademark was one of multiple which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to produce an identity that projected trust, success, and wealth.
Logo created for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font that is reminiscent of a famous sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed loads of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project in which I worked closely with the business owner to create a logo design that worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
