Marshalltown Logo Design

Each and every new Marshalltown organization realizes that they are in need of a logo, yet few new business owners thoroughly grasp the essential role their logo design can take in their success, or why one business logo performs far better than another. A logo design has an immediate and long-term impact on the success of a company, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the life of an organization. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Marshalltown businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require consideration, they can be grasped in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the enterprise they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.

Retro logo design of a bike created for a Marshalltown coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an older part of the city and wanted to visualize an old-fashioned tone without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I accomplished both tasks by means of developing a custom logo design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and also bacteria designed for Marshalltown medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the root causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the field of medicine which deals with the laboratory examination of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the only instance I remember in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Normally I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more appealing, more attention grabbing and more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping green frog created for a household enjoyable facility in Marshalltown.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental practices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Marshalltown traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers don’t capture places or things but instead communicate emotional journeys through the images they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I tried to do something similar to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Marshalltown logo but also to show the depth in her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Marshalltown logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design projects that I take on I honestly relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however my customer, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his contempt for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to talk about it with colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced assessments on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logos are a weird creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo design realize how essential a logo design is for their organization so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo job possesses it’s allotment of obstacles, but the biggest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, style for Marshalltown book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most essential part of a printed book due to the fact that it is often the first thing a person views in the book shop. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will likely ever get to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart however it seems like that in many instances one of the traits folks tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a feeling of air travel and it was undoubtedly a victory.

Marshalltown logo design utilized for marketing as well as a tag style for Vintage Case includes an old-fashioned typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be older cases. For this custom logo design I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for every thing from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Marshalltown, style consist of an arc with lines converging via it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects considering that it seems that every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental offices do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really love doing dental care logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to summarize specifically how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo style produced for a hair style studio including a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo that projected an atmosphere of contentment and elegance for their new hair studio. I came up with a design that didn’t go the obvious path of making simply a stylized orchid but instead delivered a logo design that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is usually the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the focus on the emotion that they really wanted to project to their patrons.

Logo design for a software program developer the style functions and iconic element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and disk operations. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it intimated something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the symbolism supporting a logo design is just as important as how it brands the enterprise it represents.

A logo style including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly realized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a place to sell their pre-owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Marshalltown logo design dsign utilizing an illustration that seizes the interest of traffic and projects an image that wakens the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo style has actually a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem idea wasn’t really composed for an Marshalltown regional farm it was in reality developed for an investments broker, and this creative logo was one of many which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to make a image that projected self-assurance, effectiveness, and opulence.
Logo made for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is reminiscent of a popular sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created quite a lot of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project in which I worked directly with the proprietor to create a business logo that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
