POINTERS FOR DETERMINING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design agency presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they can’t reimburse the amount of time you commit which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but ultimately a designer can only be judged from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio does not contain real life examples odds are they won’t be able to deliver a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be understood and be unforgettable, and it’s goal is to echo your unique vision for your company. If a designer isn’t focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how soon they will get paid.

North Liberty LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs establish notable brand identities. We’ve undertaken brand identity design work for builders, colleges, heart surgeons, wedding singers, coffee roasters, retailers, and just about every other kind of business you can imagine. What makes us unique compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every design as if it will be utilized as an electric sign. Because of our sign first technique our brand identity designs can, and have been utilized in everything from fashion labels to billboards. Our sign first approach insures that our logos are just as successful whether they are used in TV commercials or website applications, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and always remembered regardless of size or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which really sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you might possibly have encountered in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are enlisted to do, we do ourselves. Irrespective of the type of project we undertake, logo, web page, trade show exhibition, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will contract out our customer’s projects to companies based outside the US. When you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that marks up the price of your project and determines the terms of how we do business.

ASPECTS OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new North Liberty business knows they require a logo, but few start ups entirely grasp the essential role their business logo can make in their success, or precisely why one business logo functions better than another. A business logo has an immediate and sustaining effect on the prosperity of a company, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help North Liberty businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require contemplation, they can be comprehended in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to store signs a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the item or organization they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be ageless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It is both a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the process of noting something to make sure that it can be identified, its foundation originates from the mark burned onto livestock. Today a brand symbolizes virtually anything with a motive, regardless of whether it be profit or government agencies, a brand is an innate aspect of specifying the worth of a specific thing in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s attractive cousin, they are both from the exact same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition directed at a target audience, it’s goal is to create a mental image that the audience will likely connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing and identity design. When a person mentions the brand names Porsche or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, elegance, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people want those products. Brand image is why individuals acquire specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Firms – If you reflect on the beginning of most branding companies you’ll discover that they are quite often rebranded marketing agencies. When a person states they are in advertising and marketing most people will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that focuses on a kind of visual design that helps form the perception of a firm, a product or an organization. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, packaging, as well as collateral material such as cards, stationery, and also sales brochures. Some identity designers also develop sites and also user interfaces. The necessary duty of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and also an emotional tone with the objective of influencing actions, end results as well as assumptions.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo design of a bicycle created for a North Liberty coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and cafe were actually launching in an old section of the community and wanted to project a retro feel without appearing as boring or low energy. I achieved both tasks via creating a custom logo design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide as well as germs developed for North Liberty clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that investigates the root causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of medicine which deals with the laboratory evaluation of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the only instance I recall where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more focus grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo style with a leaping eco-friendly frog developed for a family fun center in North Liberty.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental practices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the company features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a more enthusiastic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and also a tree - designed for North Liberty travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but rather project emotional experiences through the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they frequently convey whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with just words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  North Liberty logo but also to reveal the depth of her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

North Liberty logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I genuinely savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but the customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man really loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members did not share his hatred for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage all of them to share it with friends and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced point of views on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo design recognize how vital a logo design is for their organization so they are much more invested in the final result. Every logo design job possesses it’s share of obstacles, but the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, style for North Liberty book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin piece of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most necessary part of a printed book since it is in most cases the very first thing a person sees in the book shop. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the opportunity that they will likely ever have to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it seems that in many instances one of the things individuals often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a spirit of flight and it was undoubtedly a success.

North Liberty logo style utilized for advertising as well as a label layout for Vintage Case includes an old font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this custom logo design I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be utilized for anything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different era.

Logo created for an orthodontist in North Liberty, style consist of an arc with lines converging through it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects because it seems that almost every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually love doing dentist logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a household not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 characters startled in elevation to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization hopes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to explain how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo style produced for a North Liberty hair layout workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a company logo that conveyed an atmosphere of calmness and class for their new hair salon. I created a concept that didn’t go the obvious route of crafting merely a stylized orchid but instead designed a business logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is frequently the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the main focus on the emotion that they really wanted to project to their customers.

Arabian equine logo design developed for a steed ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created an original logotype design tailored to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of horses. By having an identifiable head form and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the highly easily identifiable horse types in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A North Liberty Coffee shop logo design a tiny dining establishment, style contains a changed manuscript font which floats over a group of ornate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo design a small dining establishment, style consists of a modified script font which floats above a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo style for a software application programmer the style functions and iconic North Liberty aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive managing. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection in between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it represented something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the significance supporting a logo design is just as important as how it serves the company it represents.

Advance logo layout developed for a North Libertyindoor developer, style feature a collection of red circles that converge and also replace the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a North Liberty interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who arranges, explores, collaborates, and oversees such projects. Interior design is a diverse profession that involves conceptual development, space planning, location inspections, programming, research study, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo layout provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in North Liberty, the characters for letter V and A in middle of words progressed have actually been modified to connect directly into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This North Liberty logo design assignment was completed for a leadership consultant that assists business leaders to become more efficient at handling people, expectations, and profitability.

A North Liberty business logo design including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly knew the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a location to sell off their secondhand equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their North Liberty business logo design using an illustration that garners the interest of vehicles and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this North Liberty company logo style has actually a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo design wasn’t actually developed for an North Liberty area farm it was in reality developed for a commodities broker, and this particular brand was one of many that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to design an identity that projects self-confidence, effectiveness, and luxury.

North Liberty Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo layout function for ostensibly encountering arrowhead and the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the freedom to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without knowing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo design made for using an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript typeface that is similar to a popular North Liberty sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked closely with the owner to create a logo design that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
