Dodge City, Kansas Logo Design

Nearly every new Dodge City business professional understands that they require a logo, but few new business owners entirely recognize the crucial role their business logo can perform in their financial success, or why one logo design performs far better than another. A logo design has an immediate and sustaining influence on the prosperity of a business, select the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the life span of a business.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Dodge City, Kansas businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not demand consideration, they can be understood in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from labels to posters a scalable logo will stay legible and just as emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the company they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be timeless and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.
Retro logo layout of a bike created for a Dodge City, Kansas coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and bistro were actually launching in an old section of the community and wanted to project an old-fashioned feel without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I achieved each of the jobs by means of developing a business logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria created for Dodge City, Kansas medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that analyzes the root causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of medicine that deals with the laboratory assessment of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I remember in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Generally I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more appealing, more attention grabbing and a lot more memorable.

logo design with a jumping eco-friendly frog created for a household fun center in Dodge City, Kansas.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more dynamic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo including a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Dodge City, Kansas travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but rather project emotional journeys through the photos they record. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they often share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with mere words. I tried to do something much the same to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Dodge City logo but also to show the depth in her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Dodge City logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I truly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but my customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man really hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members did not share his scorn for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge all of them to discuss it with friends and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased point of views on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo design comprehend how essential a logo design is for their company so they are much more invested in the outcome. Every logo job possesses it’s allotment of difficulties, however the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Dodge City, Kansas book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped slice of real estate to work with, but it really is the most vital part of a printed book considering that it is often the initial thing a person views in the book store. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will ever have to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it seems like that in many cases 1 of the items people often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller new venture commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a good sense of flight and it was surely a winner.

Dodge City logo design made use of for marketing and also a label design for Vintage Instance features an antiquated font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be older cases. For this custom logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different generation.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Dodge City, Kansas, design consist of an arc with lines converging with it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs considering that it seems that every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dental offices do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would probably include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I actually love doing dental logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities startled in elevation to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo that conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to summarize how people should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that describes itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout developed for a hair design workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo which projected a feeling of calmness and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a concept that didn’t go the obvious course of making just a stylized orchid but instead created a logo design which suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl featured into the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is frequently the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately put the emphasis on the perception that they wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Logo style for a software program developer the style features and also iconic element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive management. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge in between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the owner of the business and in many cases the meaning supporting a logo is just as important as how it serves the company it represents.

A logo style including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly realized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to sell their previously owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Dodge City logo design dsign along with an image which garners the interest of traffic and sends an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand concept wasn’t really created for an Dodge City, Kansas area farm it was really created for a commodities broker, and this particular logo design was one of many which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was to generate a graphic that projects trust, effectiveness, and affluence.

Dodge City Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for ostensibly encountering arrowhead and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the freedom to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular case, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st shot.

Logo developed for the use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript typeface that is evocative a popular sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the proprietor to design a logo design that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
