Liberal, Kansas Logo Design

Each and every new Liberal organization understands that they need a logo, but few new business owners fully realize the essential role their logo design can make in their financial success, or the reason that one business logo performs better than another. A logo design has an immediate and sustaining influence on the success of a company, select the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the life of an organization.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Liberal, Kansas businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand contemplation, they can be comprehended in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo design will remain legible and equally emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the company they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be enduring and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo design of a bicycle produced for a Liberal, Kansas coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an older part of the city and hoped to visualize a retro tone without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both tasks via creating a symbol design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria developed for Liberal, Kansas clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that investigates the causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that works with the laboratory evaluation of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the only instance I call to mind in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo style with a jumping green frog designed for a household fun facility in Liberal, Kansas.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more dynamic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and a tree - developed for Liberal, Kansas travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead reveal emotional experiences through the photos they record. The thought behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they often convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I made an effort to do something very similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Liberal logo but also to show the depth of her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Liberal logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design jobs that I take on I really savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however the customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members didn’t share his scorn for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to share it with colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get impartial viewpoints on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo design realize how essential a logo is for their organization so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo job has it’s share of hurdles, but the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Liberal, Kansas publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin piece of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most essential part of a published book due to the fact that it is usually the first thing a person views in the book store. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will likely ever get to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go nevertheless it seems like that in many instances 1 of the aspects individuals usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller start-up commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a good sense of flight and it was certainly a victory.

Liberal logo style utilized for advertising and marketing and a label style for Vintage Case includes an old-fashioned font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be older cases. For this business logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be utilized for anything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Liberal, Kansas, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs considering that it appears that virtually every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dentists do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I actually love doing dentist business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family members nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters staggered in elevation to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to describe how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that explains itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo style developed for a hair layout studio including a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo that conveyed an atmosphere of simplicity and class for their new hair studio. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious path of crafting simply a stylized orchid but rather crafted a logo design which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended into the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is usually the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the focus on the feeling that they really wanted to project to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo design developed for a horse cattle ranch that specializes in breeding Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Las Cafe logo design a tiny restaurant, style includes a changed manuscript font which floats above a team of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a tiny dining establishment, layout contains a customized script font style which hovers above a group of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Logo style for a software programmer the layout functions and iconic aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk operations. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it meant something to the owner of the business and in many cases the significance supporting a business logo is just as important as how it brands the enterprise it represents.

A logo layout including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a place to sell their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Liberal business logo dsign using an illustration that grabs the attention of vehicles and sends an image that wakens the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo style has an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo idea wasn’t actually developed for an Liberal, Kansas regional farm it was really designed for a commodities broker, and this particular logo design was one of many that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to make a graphic that projects trust, success, and luxury.

Liberal Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo layout attribute for outwardly facing arrow and also the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the liberty to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without knowing where the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the first shot.

Logo design made for making use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script typeface that is similar to a renowned sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project in which I worked closely with the proprietor to design a logo which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
