Newton Logo Design

Virtually every new Newton venture knows they are in need of a logo, however few entrepreneurs fully recognize the pivotal role their business logo can make in their success, or why one business logo functions more effectively than another. A logo has an immediate and long-term influence on the success of a business, choose the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the life of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Newton companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require contemplation, they can be grasped in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will be legible and just as emotive at every scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be timeless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

Retro logo layout of a bicycle developed for a Newton coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an old section of the area and hoped to visualize an old-fashioned feel without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved the two jobs via creating a custom logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo design with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria made for Newton clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that investigates the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that deals with the laboratory examination of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I remember in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Generally I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, yet it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo layout with a leaping eco-friendly frog designed for a family enjoyable center in Newton.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo including a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and a tree - made for Newton travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead project emotional journeys through the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they frequently share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Newton logo but also to show the depth of her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Newton logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design jobs that I take on I really enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but the client, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members did not share his scorn for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage them to share it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial assessments on the value of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they adored the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logos are a weird animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to create their logo realize how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are much more invested in the end result. Every logo job possesses it’s allotment of obstacles, however the most significant obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, style for Newton book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most crucial part of a published book because it is ordinarily the first thing a person views in the bookstore. With respect to a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will ever get to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart yet it seems like that in many occurrences 1 of the aspects individuals usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle airline situated in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a feeling of airline flight and it was definitely a success.

Newton logo style made use of for advertising and marketing and also a tag style for Vintage Case includes an antiquated typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, which seemed to be older cases. For this custom logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that had a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a website to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another era.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Newton, design consist of an arc with lines converging via it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging logo jobs considering that it seems that virtually every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really enjoy doing dental care logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family members nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters surprised in height to stand for a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to illustrate precisely how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that explains itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo layout created for a hair design workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo design that carried an atmosphere of ease and connection for their new hair salon. I created a design which didn’t go the obvious route of creating simply a stylized orchid but rather designed a company logo that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is usually the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the importance on the emotion that they wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Logo layout for a software application programmer the layout attributes as well as legendary element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and disk managing. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it intimated something to the owner of the company and in many cases the significance behind a business logo is just as important as how it brands the company it represents.

A logo style featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly knew the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a location to market their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Newton logo design dsign utilizing an image that garners the interest of vehicles and projects an image that wakens the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo style has a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem design wasn’t really produced for an Newton regional farm it was in reality devised for a commodities broker, and this particular logo was one of multiple which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to design a graphic that projected confidence, financial success, and prosperity.
Logo created for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is evocative a famous sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed quite a lot of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked closely with the business owner to develop a logo design which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
