Salina Logo Design

Nearly every new Salina company understands that they require a logo, yet few entrepreneurs thoroughly recognize the essential role their company logo can make in their financial success, or why one business logo works better than another. A company logo has an instant and lasting influence on the success of a company, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Salina companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not demand consideration, they can be understood in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will remain legible and just as emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Salina coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and bistro were opening in an older part of the city and really wanted to visualize a retro atmosphere without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished both jobs by creating a custom logo design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria created for Salina medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that examines the root causes and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine that deals with the clinical evaluation of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the sole instance I remember where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves quite literally, yet it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more captivating, more focus grabbing and more memorable.

logo layout with a leaping green frog developed for a household enjoyable center in Salina.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - designed for Salina traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but rather communicate emotional journeys through the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they often convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Salina logo but also to show the depth to her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Salina logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design jobs that I take on I seriously relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however the customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man seriously loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his contempt for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get honest assessments on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they adored the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logos are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to create their logo design comprehend how important a logo design is for their business so they are much more vested in the end result. Every logo project has it’s allotment of challenges, however the biggest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, layout for Salina book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most critical part of a printed book since it is often the initial thing a person sees in the bookstore. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the opportunity they will likely ever have to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go however it seems like that in many instances one of the things people usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a spirit of flight and it was definitely a victory.

Salina logo layout utilized for advertising and also a label style for Vintage Situation features an old font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this custom logo design I tried to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another era.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Salina, style consist of an arc with lines converging through it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can be one of the most difficult logo design jobs due to the fact that it seems that each and every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the same way dental practices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really love doing dentistry logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family members nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters surprised in elevation to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to explain precisely how people should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that describes itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo design produced for a hair design workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a company logo which carried a spirit of tranquility and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a design which did not go the obvious path of designing merely a stylized orchid but alternatively designed a logo which implied a flower in the formation of a swirl featured into the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is generally the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the main focus on the feeling that they wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Las Coffee shop logo layout a tiny restaurant, design includes a customized script typeface which hovers over a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo design for a software program developer the style attributes as well as iconic component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge in between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the significance supporting a logo is just as important as how it serves the organization it represents.

Develop logo design produced for a Salina interior developer, design attribute a collection of red circles that intersect and change the letter O in the center of the logo design.

A logo layout including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly knew the market was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a spot to sell their pre-owned items to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Salina logo dsign using an image which captures the interest of traffic and sends an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo layout has actually an area integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem design wasn’t actually produced for an Salina regional farm it was really developed for an investments broker, and this particular logo design was one of a handful of that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was actually to make a graphic that projects trust, effectiveness, and prosperity.
Logo made for the use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font that is similar to a famous sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created loads of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project in which I worked closely with the proprietor to create a logo design which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
