Wichita, Kansas Logo Design

Nearly every new Wichita business knows they require a logo, but few entrepreneurs entirely comprehend the crucial role their company logo can take in their success, or precisely why one business logo performs more effectively than another. A logo design has an instant and long-term effect on the growth of a company, choose the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life span of a business.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Wichita, Kansas companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require scrutiny, they can be comprehended in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable business logo will stay legible and just as emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be ageless and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.
Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Wichita, Kansas coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening in an older section of the town and wanted to cast an old-fashioned vibe without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both of these tasks by developing a trademark design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria created for Wichita, Kansas medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that investigates the causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that works with the laboratory evaluation of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recollect where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more interesting, more focus grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo layout with a leaping green frog made for a family fun center in Wichita, Kansas.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental practices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more dynamic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - designed for Wichita, Kansas travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but instead reveal emotional journeys by means of the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of most good photographers in that they often share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Wichita logo design but also to show the depth to her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Wichita logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I truly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but the customer, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man really hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members did not share his scorn for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage all of them to talk about it with friends and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased point of views on the value of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to create their logo design comprehend how vital a logo is for their business so they are much more vested in the end result. Every logo job possesses it’s share of obstacles, but the greatest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Wichita, Kansas publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow segment of real estate to work with, however it really is the most vital part of a published book since it is ordinarily the initial thing a person views in the book shop. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the opportunity that they will likely ever have to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it looks like that in many instances one of the traits people tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small fledgling commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a feeling of airline flight and it was certainly a success.

Wichita logo style utilized for advertising and marketing and also a tag style for Vintage Case features an antiquated typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand-new cases for musical instruments, which appeared to be vintage cases. For this custom logo design I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid retro feel to it and could be utilized for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another point in time.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Wichita, Kansas, design include an arc with lines intersecting via it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects because it appears that each and every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really enjoy doing dental business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family members nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 personalities surprised in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to describe how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo layout developed for a hair design studio including a script font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo that related a spirit of contentment and class for their new hair studio. I created a concept that did not go the obvious route of designing just a stylized orchid but rather created a company logo that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is in most cases the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the attention on the feeling that they really wanted to forecast to their customers.

Logo design for a software programmer the design attributes and also famous aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge in between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the substance behind a logo is equally as important as how it serves the company it represents.

A logo layout including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly realized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a spot to sell their used items to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Wichita logo dsign along with an image that garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that wakens the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo layout has actually a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo design wasn’t really created for an Wichita, Kansas regional farm it was in reality created for a commodities broker, and this company was one of a handful of which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to make a brand mark that projects assurance, success, and opulence.

Wichita Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo design function for ostensibly dealing with arrow and the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design that they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the opportunity to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without knowing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular instance, I hit a bullseye with the very first shot.

Logo design made for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font that is similar to a popular sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project where I worked closely with the business owner to develop a business logo that worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
