Saint Matthews Logo Design

Nearly every new Saint Matthews business realizes that they require a logo, yet few new business owners fully comprehend the key role their company logo can make in their success, or exactly why one logo design works far better than another. A logo design has an instant and lasting influence on the growth of a company, choose the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, select the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Saint Matthews businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require scrutiny, they can be comprehended in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be lasting and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.

Retro logo style of a bicycle created for a Saint Matthews coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and bistro were actually opening in an older section of the community and wished to project a nostalgic vibe without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled each of the tasks by means of designing a logo design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide and germs designed for Saint Matthews clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that deals with the clinical assessment of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recall in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Generally I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, yet it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more interesting, more focus grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo style with a leaping green frog designed for a household fun center in Saint Matthews.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental offices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to integrate a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Saint Matthews travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but rather project emotional experiences by means of the photos they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of almost all good photographers in that they oftentimes share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Saint Matthews logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Saint Matthews logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design jobs that I take on I really take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but the client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members did not share his contempt for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage all of them to share it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get honest viewpoints on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to create their business logo comprehend how important a logo design is for their company so they are way more vested in the final result. Every logo project has it’s portion of hurdles, however the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Saint Matthews book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender piece of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most vital part of a published book given that it is often the first thing a person views in the book shop. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the opportunity that they will likely ever get to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it seems like that in many cases one of the traits individuals usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a sense of air travel and it was certainly a winner.

Saint Matthews logo style made use of for marketing as well as a label style for Vintage Situation features an antiquated font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this brand design I tried to come up with a logo that offered a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another generation.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Saint Matthews, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo projects considering that it seems that every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dentists do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really enjoy doing dentistry business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 personalities startled in height to stand for a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to describe how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo layout developed for a hair style workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo design that conveyed an atmosphere of ease and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that didn’t go the obvious path of crafting just a stylized orchid but instead designed a logo design which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is in most cases the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the attention on the perception that they really wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Logo layout for a software programmer the layout attributes as well as famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and drive operations. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a connection between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it represented something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism supporting a business logo is just as important as how it serves the enterprise it stands for.

A logo style including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a spot to sell off their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Saint Matthews logo design dsign utilizing a graphic which garners the interest of traffic and projects an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo layout has a field included into the letter Q.

Logo design created for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is evocative a well-known sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked closely with the proprietor to create a business logo which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
