POINTERS FOR DETERMINING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design agency offers a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they simply cannot refund the time you invest which is eminently more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but ultimately a designer can only be judged from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio does not feature actual examples odds are they won’t be able to produce a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s purpose is to mirror your unique vision for your business. If a logo designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how quickly they can get paid.

Harvey LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs cultivate unforgettable brand identities. We have done brand identity design work for builders, colleges, diamond miners, wedding singers, bistros, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business you can think of. What makes us unique compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every design as if it will be employed as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first technique our designs can, and have been used in everything from fashion labels to billboards. Our sign first technique insures that our logo designs are equally reliable whether they are used in TV commercials or website applications, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and always remembered regardless of size or use.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which really sets ImageCo apart from many of the design companies that you probably have found in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are retained to perform, we perform ourselves. No matter the type of project we undertake, brand identity design, web page, trade show exhibition, or retail sign, we do not, and never will farm out our client’s projects to agencies based outside the US. When you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that increases the price of your project and determines the conditions of how my customers and I conduct business.

ASPECTS OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new Harvey entrepreneur knows they require a logo, but few start-ups thoroughly recognize the pivotal role their company logo will play in their success, or exactly why one logo functions better than another. A company logo has a critical and long term effect on the prosperity of a company, choose the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Harvey businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not need scrutiny, they can be grasped in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from label to billboards a scalable business logo will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the item or organization they brand.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be ageless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s both a verb and also a noun, it is an identifying mark and the process of denoting something to ensure that it could be recognized, its foundation originates from the brand branded onto animals. Today a brand represents pretty much anything with an intention, whether it be profit or political parties, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the value of a specific thing in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s sexy sister, they are each from the same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition targeted at a target audience, it’s objective is to develop an image that the target market will likely relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing and identity design. When a person states the names Porsche or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals want those products. Brand image is why people get most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Agencies – If you reflect on the origin of most branding firms you’ll discover that they are often re-branded advertising firms. When a person claims they are in advertising most people will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that concentrates on a kind of visual design which helps shape the perception of a firm, a product or an organization. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, packaging, and also collateral products such as cards, stationery, as well as brochures. Some visual designers also develop websites and also software interfaces. The vital role of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and a psychological tone with the goal of influencing actions, results and also understandings.

select logos & signs

Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Harvey coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an older part of the city and hoped to visualize an old-fashioned atmosphere without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished the two jobs by means of designing a business logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide as well as germs created for Harvey medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that analyzes the causes and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine which deals with the clinical assessment of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recall where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Usually I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more interesting, more interest grabbing and much more meaningful.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog developed for a family enjoyable facility in Harvey.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and also a tree - made for Harvey traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but rather convey emotional journeys by means of the photos they record. The thought behind this logo concept was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of the majority of good photographers in that they often tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with just words. I attempted to do something very similar to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Harvey logo but also to show the depth in her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Harvey logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however the customer, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy truly hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his aversion for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get objective judgements on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Business logos are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo recognize how crucial a logo is for their company so they are way more invested in the outcome. Every logo design job has it’s allotment of obstacles, however the greatest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Harvey publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin piece of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most critical part of a printed book due to the fact that it is usually the very first thing a person sees in the book store. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go nevertheless it looks like that in many occurrences 1 of the items folks tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a feeling of air travel and it was definitely a winner.

Harvey logo style made use of for advertising and marketing and also a tag layout for Vintage Instance features an old-fashioned font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be older cases. For this brand concept I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Harvey, style include an arc with lines intersecting through it to imply metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo projects due to the fact that it appears that every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dentists do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really enjoy doing dental care logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a household not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities startled in height to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to illustrate how people should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a Harvey hair style workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo that carried a feeling of tranquility and connection for their new hair studio. I created a design which did not go the obvious route of designing merely a stylized orchid but instead crafted a logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is frequently the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead laid the focus on the feeling that they wanted to transmit to their clients.

Arabian equine logo layout developed for a horse ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed an original organization logo design fashioned to exemplify the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of horses. By having a different head form and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most quite easily identifiable horse types in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Harvey Coffee shop logo layout a small restaurant, design contains a modified script font style which floats over a group of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo style a little restaurant, design contains a changed script font which hovers over a group of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Logo style for a software application designer the style functions as well as famous Harvey component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive management. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the significance behind a business logo is just as important as how it serves the company it represents.

Develop logo style developed for a Harveyindoor developer, layout feature a series of red circles that converge and also change the letter O in the middle of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Harvey interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who plans, investigates, collaborates, and oversees such tasks. Interior design is a diverse occupation that consists of conceptual development, space planning, site evaluations, programming, study, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and execution of the design.

logo design done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Harvey, the personalities for letter V as well as A in middle of words progressed have actually been modified to connect directly right into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Harvey logo design assignment was performed for a management consultant that enables business leaders to become more effective at managing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Harvey business logo design featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly knew the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to sell off their previously owned items to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Harvey business logo design with an illustration which seizes the attention of vehicles and sends an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this Harvey company logo layout has actually a field incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand design wasn’t really composed for an Harvey area farm it was actually created for a products broker, and this particular brand was one of many which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to generate a brand mark that projects confidence, effectiveness, and wealth.

Harvey Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for outwardly facing arrow and the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design that they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the freedom to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without recognizing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this particular case, I nailed a bullseye with the first shot.

Logo developed for using an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is reminiscent of a renowned Harvey sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted loads of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked directly with the owner to design a business logo that worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
