Lafayette Logo Design

Virtually every new Lafayette company knows they need a logo, but few new business owners thoroughly are aware of the essential role their logo design will make in their financial success, or why one business logo performs more effectively than another. A company logo has an immediate and long-term impact on the growth of a business, pick the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Lafayette businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand scrutiny, they can be comprehended in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo needs to be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

Retro logo design of a bike created for a Lafayette coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and cafe were actually opening up in an old part of the community and hoped to visualize a vintage atmosphere without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished each of the jobs by means of developing a business logo concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and germs made for Lafayette medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that works with the laboratory examination of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the only instance I remember where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more appealing, more focus grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo layout with a leaping green frog developed for a household fun center in Lafayette.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and a tree - designed for Lafayette traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but instead convey emotional experiences by means of the images they record. The thought behind this logo composition was to use negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of almost all good photographers in that they frequently convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with just words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Lafayette logo but also to illustrate the depth of her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Lafayette logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design jobs that I take on I truly savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but my client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family did not share his aversion for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to talk about it with colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced viewpoints on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family and they really liked the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Business logos are a strange creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their logo design realize how important a logo design is for their company so they are way more invested in the final result. Every logo project possesses it’s portion of obstacles, but the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, layout for Lafayette publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped slice of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most important part of a printed book due to the fact that it is often the first thing a person sees in the bookstore. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the opportunity they will ever have to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it seems that in many instances one of the items people often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest fledgling commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a good sense of airline flight and it was certainly a success.

Lafayette logo style used for advertising and marketing and also a tag design for Vintage Instance includes an antiquated font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be vintage cases. For this logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that had a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Lafayette, design include an arc with lines intersecting through it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo projects because it appears that every single dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the same way dental professionals do every one of their company logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really love doing dentist logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to explain precisely how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that explains itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a hair style workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo design which communicated an atmosphere of peace and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious route of making merely a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a company logo which implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept using the figure of a hummingbird floating above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is in most cases the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the emphasis on the perception that they wanted to transmit to their clients.

Logo design for a software program programmer the layout attributes and iconic component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the symbolism supporting a logo is just as important as how it serves the business it represents.

A logo design including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly recognized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a location to sell off their pre-owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Lafayette business logo dsign utilizing an illustration that seizes the interest of vehicles and sends an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo design has an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem concept wasn’t really created for an Lafayette regional farm it was in reality created for a commodities broker, and this particular creative logo was one of many that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to make a brand mark that projected trust, financial success, and affluence.
Logo design created for making use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is evocative a well-known sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted loads of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked closely with the business owner to produce a logo that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
