TIPS ON IDENTIFYING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design firm offers a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they simply cannot refund the time you commit which is eminently more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but inevitably a designer can only be determined from the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio does not feature actual examples odds are they will not be able to produce a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s purpose is to echo your unique vision for your business. If a logo designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how soon they will get paid.

Bangor LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs cultivate unforgettable brands. We’ve done brand design work for mechanics, educational institutions, heart surgeons, wedding singers, coffee roasters, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business you can envision. What makes ImageCo different compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every branding project as if it will be used as an electric sign. Because of our sign first technique our identity designs can, and have been used in everything from fashion labels to billboards. Our sign first approach insures that our logos are equally reliable whether they are used in television commercials or website apps, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and always remembered irrespective of scale or application.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference that truly sets ImageCo apart from many of the design agencies that you probably have come across online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are hired to perform, we do in-house. Regardless of the type of project we take on, brand identity design, business website, trade show banners, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will job out our customer’s work to agencies based outside the USA. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that marks up the cost of your design project and imposes the conditions of how my customers and I do business.

ASPECTS OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Bangor entrepreneur understands that they probably need a logo, but few start-ups fully realize the vital role their logo can perform in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo design works more effectively than another. A logo has an instant and lasting impact on the growth of a business, pick the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Bangor companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not need scrutiny, they can be comprehended in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to billboards a scalable logo will remain legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or organization they brand.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be enduring and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s a verb and also a noun, it is an identifying mark and the process of marking something so that it can be identified, its origin comes from the mark branded onto livestock. Nowadays a brand signifies virtually anything with an objective, regardless of whether it be earnings or government agencies, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of specifying the worth of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s attractive cousin, they are each from the exact same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition directed at a target audience, it’s goal is to create an image that the audience will likely identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When someone states the brand names Lamborghini or Mustang what we think about is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes people want those brands. Brand image is why individuals acquire most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the beginning of the majority of branding agencies you’ll find that they are quite often re-branded marketing and advertising firms. When someone claims they are in advertising most people will likely have an idea about what they do. However when somebody says “I’m in branding”… it just seems much more impressive, possibly it’s since the majority of people do not know what it means to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and kind of sexy.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that explains the visual aspects of a product or business that influence perceptions. This primarily consists of the name, the logo design, the product packaging, the different colors used however can also include sound, illumination, texture, signs, just about anything that can be seen, felt or heard belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that focuses on a type of visual design which helps form the image of a company, a product or an institution. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and also collateral products such as business cards, stationery, and also brochures. Some visual designers also build web sites as well as user interfaces. The necessary role of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and also a psychological tone with the goal of affecting activities, outcomes and assumptions.

select logos & signs

Retro logo design of a bike developed for a Bangor coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an old part of town and wished to cast a retro tone without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved the two jobs by designing a business logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria made for Bangor medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which examines the causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of medicine that deals with the clinical assessment of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I remember in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents quite literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more captivating, more focus grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo style with a leaping environment-friendly frog made for a household fun facility in Bangor.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a much more dynamic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Bangor traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector because travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather reveal emotional journeys through the photos they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they often share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with mere words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Bangor logo but also to show the depth of her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Bangor logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design projects that I take on I really enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man really loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his aversion for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to share it with colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get impartial assessments on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to create their logo understand how vital a logo design is for their business so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo design project possesses it’s allotment of hurdles, but the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Bangor publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender parcel of real estate to work with, however it really is the most vital part of a printed book given that it is usually the initial thing a person views in the book store. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will ever have to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it looks like that in many occurrences one of the aspects folks often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a spirit of airline flight and it was surely a success.

Bangor logo style used for marketing and also a label design for Vintage Case features an old-fashioned font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be older cases. For this custom logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Bangor, style include an arc with lines intersecting via it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects because it appears that virtually every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dentists do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really love doing dental logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a layout that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters startled in height to stand for a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization hopes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to explain specifically how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that describes itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo layout created for a Bangor hair layout workshop including a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo that related a sense of simplicity and class for their new hair studio. I came up with a design which did not go the obvious course of making merely a stylized orchid but instead created a logo that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the logo design along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is generally the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the main focus on the emotion that they wanted to project to their customers.

Arabian steed logo layout developed for a steed ranch that focuses on reproducing Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a unique business logo design customized to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of equines. With an identifiable head shape and very high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly easily identifiable equine lineages in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Bangor Coffee shop logo style a tiny restaurant, design consists of a changed script typeface which floats above a group of ornate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a small dining establishment, design includes a changed manuscript typeface which hovers above a team of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Logo layout for a software program programmer the design features as well as iconic Bangor aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it intimated something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the symbolism behind a business logo is equally as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

Progress logo layout created for a Bangorindoor developer, design attribute a collection of red circles that converge and also change the letter O in the center of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Bangor interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is an individual who organizes, investigates, coordinates, and oversees such projects. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that consists of conceptual development, space planning, site assessments, programming, analysis, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and execution of the design.

logo design provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Bangor, the characters for letter V as well as A in center of words advanced have been customized to connect straight right into words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Bangor logo design job was done for a management consultant that assists business professionals to become more successful at supervising people, expectations, and profitability.

A Bangor business logo layout featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly recognized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a location to sell off their pre-owned items to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Bangor logo design utilizing an image which garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this Bangor company logo style has an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo design wasn’t actually produced for an Bangor regional farm it was actually created for a products broker, and this brand was one of multiple which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to design a brand mark that projects assurance, success, and prosperity.

Bangor Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style function for ostensibly facing arrowhead as well as the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design that they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the liberty to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without knowing where the target is. Luckily, in this case, I struck a bullseye with the first shot.

Logo design developed for making use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font that is reminiscent of a renowned Bangor sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed quite a lot of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project in which I worked directly with the proprietor to create a business logo which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
