Ellicott City Logo Design

Each and every new Ellicott City company realizes that they require a logo, yet few entrepreneurs thoroughly grasp the pivotal role their logo design will play in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo functions far better than another. A logo has an immediate and lasting impact on the prosperity of a company, choose the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Ellicott City companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require deliberation, they can be grasped in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo will remain legible and just as emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be lasting and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.

Retro logo style of a bicycle created for a Ellicott City coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffeehouse were launching in an old part of town and really wanted to cast a vintage feel without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished both of these jobs by creating a trademark design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and germs developed for Ellicott City medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that researches the causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare that deals with the laboratory assessment of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the sole instance I recall where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, yet it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more captivating, more focus grabbing and a lot more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping green frog designed for a family members enjoyable center in Ellicott City.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dentists, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better enthusiastic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Ellicott City travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather reveal emotional journeys through the images they record. The thought behind this logo concept was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they frequently share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I attempted to do something comparable to this logo by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Ellicott City logo design but also to show the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Ellicott City logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I truly relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but my client, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy seriously disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his hatred for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to share it with friends and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral assessments on the value of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to design their business logo comprehend how vital a logo is for their business so they are much more invested in the final result. Every logo job has it’s allotment of hurdles, however the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Ellicott City book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, yet it is the most crucial part of a printed book since it is usually the first thing a person sees in the bookstore. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the opportunity that they will likely ever have to promote their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it looks like that in many occurrences 1 of the aspects individuals usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller new venture commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a sense of airline flight and it was surely a success.

Ellicott City logo design used for advertising and marketing as well as a tag design for Vintage Instance includes an antiquated font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be older cases. For this business logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another point in time.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Ellicott City, style include an arc with lines intersecting via it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs because it appears that every single dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dental professionals do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really love doing dentist business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities surprised in height to stand for a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to describe how people should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself won’t have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a hair design workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo design that carried a feeling of relaxation and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a design that did not go the obvious path of creating just a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a company logo that implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured into the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is generally the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the attention on the perception that they really wanted to forecast to their customers.

Logo design for a software program developer the layout functions and legendary aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive management. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it symbolized something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the meaning supporting a company logo is just as important as how it serves the enterprise it represents.

A logo design including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly realized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a place to sell their previously owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Ellicott City logo design dsign utilizing a graphic which garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo style has a field included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo design wasn’t really created for an Ellicott City area farm it was really designed for a products broker, and this particular company was one of several which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to design a graphic that projected self-confidence, financial success, and luxury.
Logo created for the use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is reminiscent of a renowned sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed quite a lot of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked closely with the proprietor to produce a logo design which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
