Essex, Maryland Logo Design

Each and every new Essex business understands that they require a logo, but few entrepreneurs fully are aware of the key role their logo design will take in their success, or precisely why one logo design performs better than another. A company logo has a critical and lasting influence on the growth of a business, choose the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, select the wrong one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life of an organization.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Essex, Maryland companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand deliberation, they can be grasped in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will be legible and equally emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo needs to be timeless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo style of a bike created for a Essex, Maryland coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and cafe were actually opening up in an old part of the area and wanted to project an old-fashioned feel without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both jobs by means of creating a symbol concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria made for Essex, Maryland clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which investigates the root causes and effects of diseases, especially the field of medicine that works with the laboratory examination of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the only instance I call to mind in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents very literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more captivating, more attention grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog created for a household fun facility in Essex, Maryland.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and also a tree - created for Essex, Maryland traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather reveal emotional journeys by means of the photos they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they often tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Essex logo but also to show the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Essex logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design jobs that I take on I really savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A however the client, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man really loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his contempt for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to talk about it with colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased assessments on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their business logo realize how essential a logo is for their business so they are way more invested in the outcome. Every logo job has it’s allotment of challenges, but the greatest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, design for Essex, Maryland publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, however it really is the most essential part of a published book considering that it is usually the very first thing a person views in the book shop. With respect to a publisher, it’s the best opportunity they will ever get to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it seems that in many occurrences 1 of the aspects consumers usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest new venture commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to affording a sense of air travel and it was undoubtedly a winner.

Essex logo design made use of for advertising and marketing and also a tag design for Vintage Case includes an antiquated font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand-new cases for music instruments, which looked to be antique cases. For this custom logo design I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be utilized for anything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another generation.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Essex, Maryland, design include an arc with lines intersecting via it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can be one of the most challenging logo projects because it seems that virtually every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would probably contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really love doing dental care logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters surprised in height to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to illustrate specifically how people should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo design created for a hair layout workshop including a script font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo which communicated a feeling of calmness and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a design that did not go the obvious course of crafting just a stylized orchid but instead delivered a logo which suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is frequently the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the emphasis on the perception that they really wanted to forecast to their clients.

Las Cafe logo design a little dining establishment, design consists of a modified manuscript font style which floats above a group of ornate lines and dots.

Logo layout for a software application programmer the style attributes as well as legendary component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive managing. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection between the software and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a logo is equally as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

A logo style featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly realized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a location to sell their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Essex logo design dsign along with a graphic that grabs the interest of vehicles and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo style has an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem design wasn’t really composed for an Essex, Maryland area farm it was actually developed for a commodities broker, and this logo design was one of multiple that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to produce a graphic that projected self-confidence, success, and prosperity.

Essex Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo layout feature for outwardly encountering arrowhead and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the opportunity to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without realizing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this particular case, I hit a bullseye with the 1st shot.

Logo design made for using an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font that is reminiscent of a famous sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created loads of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked closely with the business owner to produce a logo that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
