TIPS ON SELECTING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design firm offers a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they simply cannot refund the amount of time you invest which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but inevitably a design firm can only be determined by the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio does not contain actual examples chances are they won’t be able to deliver a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s goal is to echo your personal vision for your organization. If a logo designer is not focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how soon they will get paid.

Essex LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs cultivate notable brands. We have undertaken brand design work for builders, colleges, diamond miners, party planners, coffee shops, retail stores, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can envision. What makes ImageCo unique compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every brand identity project as if it will be utilized as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first method our designs can, and have been used in everything from garment labels to billboards. Our sign first approach ensures that our logos are just as reliable whether they are used in television commercials or website apps, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and always remembered irrespective of size or use.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which truly sets ImageCo apart from other design agencies that you probably have encountered on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are contracted to do, we perform ourselves. Regardless of the type of project we accept, logo design, business website, trade show display, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our client’s work to organizations based outside the US. Whenever you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that marks up the price of your design project and imposes the terms of how you and I do business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new Essex organization realizes that they probably need a logo, however few start-ups thoroughly understand the crucial role their logo design can perform in their becoming successful, or why one logo works better than another. A logo has an instant and sustaining impact on the growth of a company, select the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Essex businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require contemplation, they can be grasped in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to store signs a scalable logo design will stay legible and equally emotive at every scale.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the item or company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be timeless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It is a verb and also a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the act of noting something to make sure that it can be distinguished, its origin originates from the brand burned onto animals. These days a brand signifies pretty much anything with an objective, regardless of whether it be earnings or political parties, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the value of something in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s attractive cousin, they are both from the very same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest aimed at a specific audience, it’s objective is to create a mental image that the audience will connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and identity design. When someone says the brand names Lamborghini or Mustang what we consider is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals want those brands. Brand image is why individuals buy specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Companies – If you look back at the origin of many branding firms you’ll discover that they are often re-branded marketing firms. When someone claims they are in advertising and marketing most individuals will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or heard are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that concentrates on a type of visual design that helps shape the perception of a company, a product or a company. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and collateral products such as cards, stationery, as well as pamphlets. Some identity designers also design web sites and user interfaces. The essential duty of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the objective of influencing activities, results and understandings.

select SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo layout of a bicycle created for a Essex coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually launching in an old part of the area and wished to project a vintage atmosphere without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved both tasks by creating a custom logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide as well as germs made for Essex clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that analyzes the causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare that deals with the clinical examination of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I recall where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Generally I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, yet it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more focus grabbing and much more memorable.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog made for a family fun facility in Essex.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental professionals, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a better lively high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Essex traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field because travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but rather communicate emotional journeys through the images they record. The thought behind this logo design was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I tried to do something the same to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Essex logo design but also to reveal the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Essex logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design jobs that I take on I seriously take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my client, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man seriously disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his aversion for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to share it with friends and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get objective viewpoints on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo design comprehend how essential a logo design is for their business so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo design job has it’s allotment of challenges, but the largest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, style for Essex book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender parcel of real estate to work with, however it is the most important part of a printed book due to the fact that it is often the very first thing a person views in the book shop. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity that they will ever get to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go nevertheless it seems that in many instances 1 of the things individuals tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller start-up commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a spirit of airline flight and it was surely a victory.

Essex logo style used for marketing as well as a tag design for Vintage Case features an antiquated font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be much older cases. For this logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that provided a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Essex, style include an arc with lines intersecting through it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs because it seems that each and every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their company logos would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I actually love doing dentist logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters surprised in elevation to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to describe how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If people have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that describes itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo style developed for a Essex hair layout studio including a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo which carried a spirit of relaxation and class for their new hair studio. I created a concept which didn’t go the obvious direction of creating just a stylized orchid but instead delivered a logo that suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is usually the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the focus on the perception that they wanted to project to their patrons.

Arabian horse logo layout produced for a steed ranch that specializes in reproducing Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted a one-of-a-kind logo design customized to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of horses. With an unique head shape and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most immediately recognizable horse types in the world.

Las Cafe, A Essex restaurant logo design a little dining establishment, layout contains a customized script font style which hovers over a group of elaborate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo style a tiny restaurant, layout contains a changed manuscript font which hovers over a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo layout for a software program programmer the style functions and also legendary Essex element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk operations. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the owner of the business and in many cases the meaning supporting a company logo is just as important as how it serves the company it stands for.

Progress logo design produced for a Essexinterior designer, style feature a series of red circles that intersect as well as replace the letter O in the center of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Essex interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is somebody who organizes, researches, coordinates, and oversees such projects. Interior design is a diverse occupation that involves conceptual development, space planning, location examinations, programming, research study, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and implementation of the design.

logo style provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Essex, the personalities for letter V as well as A in middle of words advanced have been modified to link directly right into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Essex logo design project was carried out for a management expert that enables business professionals to become more effective at supervising people, expectations, and profitability.

A Essex business logo layout including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a spot to sell their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Essex logo design design with an image that pulls in the attention of vehicles and projects an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.

Logo design MQ farms, this Essex company logo layout has actually an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand concept wasn’t really created for an Essex regional farm it was actually devised for a commodities broker, and this company logo was one of multiple which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to produce a graphic that projected trust, effectiveness, and opulence.

Essex Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo design feature for externally dealing with arrowhead and the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the freedom to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo created for using an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is reminiscent of a popular Essex sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed loads of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked directly with the proprietor to design a logo design that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
