POINTERS FOR FINDING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design firm presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they simply cannot refund the time you invest which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but ultimately a design agency can only be evaluated by the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio does not feature real world examples odds are they will not be able to produce a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s purpose is to echo your unique vision for your company. If a logo designer isn’t focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how fast they will get paid.

Hunt Valley LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping businesses of all kinds develop unforgettable brand identities. We’ve done branding work for ranchers, universities, diamond miners, wedding singers, cafes, retailers, and practically every other kind of business you can envision. What makes ImageCo unique compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every brand identity project as if it will be utilized as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first strategy our identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from clothing labels to electrical signs. Our sign first approach guarantees that our logos are equally successful whether they are used in television commercials or web apps, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and remembered regardless of scale or application.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which truly sets ImageCo apart from many of the design agencies that you may have found on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are contracted to perform, we perform in-house. Regardless of the type of project we take on, logo, website, trade show display, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will contract out our customer’s projects to agencies located outside the USA. When you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that marks up the price of your project and determines the conditions of how my customers and I conduct business.

ASPECTS OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Every new Hunt Valley organization realizes that they require a logo, however few start ups fully grasp the crucial role their logo can make in their becoming successful, or why one logo performs far better than another. A logo has a critical and sustaining effect on the financial success of a business, select the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life span of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Hunt Valley companies prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not need consideration, they can be grasped in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to retail signs a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and just as emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be lasting and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s a verb and also a noun, it is an identifying mark as well as the process of noting something so that it could be distinguished, its foundation originates from the mark burned onto animals. Nowadays a brand signifies virtually anything with an objective, regardless of whether it be profit or political parties, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the worth of something in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s sexy sister, they are each from the very same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest targeted at a specific audience, it’s goal is to develop a mental image that the target market will connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When somebody states the names Lamborghini or Mustang what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes people want those products. Brand image is why individuals identify with specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you look back at the origin of most branding companies you’ll discover that they are quite often re-branded advertising and marketing agencies. When someone claims they are in advertising lots of people will likely have an idea about what they do. But when someone claims “I am in branding”… it just sounds much more impressive, possibly it’s since lots of people don’t understand what it implies to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and maybe even attractive.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that describes the visual elements of a product or business that affect view points. This largely consists of the name, the logo design, the product packaging, the colors utilized yet can also include sound, lighting, texture, signage, actually anything that can be seen, felt or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that specializes in a type of visual design which helps form the perception of a business, a product or a company. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, as well as collateral material such as business cards, stationery, as well as pamphlets. Some visual designers also develop web sites and also software interfaces. The vital role of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and a psychological tone with the goal of influencing activities, outcomes and also assumptions.

select signs/logos

Retro logo layout of a bike produced for a Hunt Valley coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and cafe were launching in an old part of the community and hoped to cast a nostalgic vibe without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled the two tasks by means of creating a sign concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and bacteria designed for Hunt Valley medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that researches the causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which works with the laboratory examination of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recollect in which I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Generally I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping green frog developed for a family fun facility in Hunt Valley.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo including a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and also a tree - created for Hunt Valley traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather communicate emotional journeys by means of the images they record. The thought behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they oftentimes convey whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with mere words. I tried to do something the same to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Hunt Valley logo but also to illustrate the depth of her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Hunt Valley logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I truly relish and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however my customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his contempt for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to share it with friends and family as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased judgements on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Business logos are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to design their logo design realize how essential a logo is for their company so they are way more vested in the final result. Every logo project has it’s allotment of challenges, however the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Hunt Valley publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin slice of real estate to work with, yet it is the most important part of a published book given that it is often the primary thing a person sees in the book store. Concerning a publisher, it’s the opportunity they will likely ever have to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it looks like that in many instances one of the items individuals often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest start-up commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a feeling of air travel and it was undoubtedly a victory.

Hunt Valley logo layout made use of for advertising and also a label design for Vintage Case features an old-fashioned typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be vintage cases. For this logo design I strove to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old style feel to it and could be utilized for everything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Hunt Valley, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging logo projects considering that it seems that almost every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dental professionals do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I actually love doing dental logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to illustrate exactly how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that describes itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo design developed for a Hunt Valley hair style workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo which communicated a spirit of contentment and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious path of making just a stylized orchid but instead delivered a logo which suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl blended into the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is more often than not the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the main focus on the emotion that they wanted to project to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo style created for a steed cattle ranch that specializes in breeding Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a one-of-a-kind logotype concept customized to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of equines. By having a different head form and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most quite easily recognizable horse lineages in the world.

Las Cafe, A Hunt Valley restaurant logo design a little dining establishment, design consists of a changed manuscript typeface which floats above a team of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo layout a tiny restaurant, style contains a customized manuscript typeface which hovers above a team of ornate lines and dots.

Logo layout for a software application developer the layout functions and iconic Hunt Valley aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive managing. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection in between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the substance supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it serves the organization it stands for.

Progress logo style created for a Hunt Valleyindoor designer, layout attribute a series of red circles that intersect and change the letter O in the middle of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Hunt Valley interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who prepares, researches, collaborates, and manages such tasks. Interior design is a diverse profession that consists of conceptual development, space planning, location inspections, programming, research study, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and implementation of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Hunt Valley, the personalities for letter V and also A in center of the word advanced have been modified to link straight right into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Hunt Valley logo design project was done for a leadership coach that helps business professionals to develop into more effective at supervising people, expectations, and productivity.

A Hunt Valley business logo design featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to sell off their previously owned products to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Hunt Valley logo design using an image that garners the attention of traffic and sends an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this Hunt Valley company logo layout has actually a field integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo idea wasn’t actually designed for an Hunt Valley regional farm it was really devised for a products broker, and this particular logo design was one of several that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to produce an identity that projects esteem, effectiveness, and opulence.

Hunt Valley Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo layout function for externally encountering arrow and also the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design they wanted, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the opportunity to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye in the absence of understanding where the target is. Thankfully, in this case, I struck a bullseye with the very first go.

Logo created for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is evocative a popular Hunt Valley sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted loads of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked directly with the proprietor to design a logo design which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
