North Potomac Logo Design

Each and every new North Potomac organization knows they are in need of a logo, however few new business owners entirely recognize the essential role their logo design will take in their financial success, or exactly why one business logo performs far better than another. A business logo has an immediate and long-term influence on the financial success of a company, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of an organization. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help North Potomac businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require consideration, they can be realized in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable business logo will remain legible and just as emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be timeless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

Retro logo design of a bicycle created for a North Potomac coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening in an old part of the city and wanted to project a retro feel without appearing as boring or low energy. I fulfilled the two tasks by means of developing a trademark design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide as well as bacteria designed for North Potomac medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which researches the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the field of healthcare which works with the clinical examination of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the only instance I call to mind where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more appealing, more interest grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo layout with a jumping eco-friendly frog developed for a household fun center in North Potomac.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better dynamic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and a tree - created for North Potomac travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I think it is a niche field because travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead communicate emotional experiences through the images they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they often share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I attempted to do something very similar to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  North Potomac logo design but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

North Potomac logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I seriously enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however my customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members didn’t share his contempt for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage all of them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased point of views on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they adored the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo design comprehend how important a logo design is for their business so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo job has it’s share of difficulties, however the largest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, layout for North Potomac book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender parcel of real estate to work with, however it is the most necessary part of a printed book since it is ordinarily the first thing a person sees in the book store. Concerning a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will ever have to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it seems that in many instances 1 of the things consumers tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller start-up commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a feeling of flight and it was certainly a victory.

North Potomac logo style used for marketing as well as a tag layout for Vintage Case features an archaic font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, which seemed to be much older cases. For this brand design I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a web site to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in North Potomac, style include an arc with lines converging via it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can be one of the most challenging logo projects because it seems that every single dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the same way dental professionals do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really love doing dentist business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities surprised in elevation to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to illustrate precisely how people should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that describes itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo design created for a hair design workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo design which communicated an atmosphere of tranquility and connection for their new hair salon. I created a design which didn’t go the obvious direction of designing simply a stylized orchid but instead created a logo that suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is more often than not the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the importance on the perception that they really wanted to forecast to their customers.

Logo design for a software programmer the design functions as well as legendary element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and hard drive management. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it intimated something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the meaning behind a logo is equally as important as how it serves the organization it stands for.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular North Potomac logo design assignment was undertaken for a leadership expert that helps business professionals to become more effective at handling people, expectations, and profitability.

A logo style including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly understood the market was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a spot to market their used items to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their North Potomac logo dsign utilizing an illustration that garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo design has actually a field incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t really developed for an North Potomac area farm it was actually developed for a commodities broker, and this particular logo was one of several that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to create a graphic that projects trust, financial success, and luxury.
Logo design created for the use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font style that is reminiscent of a popular sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created loads of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project in which I worked directly with the proprietor to design a logo which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
