Owings Mills Logo Design

Virtually every new Owings Mills venture realizes that they require a logo, but few new business owners thoroughly understand the key role their company logo will play in their success, or precisely why one logo design functions better than another. A logo design has an instant and lasting effect on the financial success of a business, select the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life span of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Owings Mills companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require scrutiny, they can be comprehended in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will be legible and just as emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the enterprise they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

Retro logo style of a bike produced for a Owings Mills coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening in an old part of the community and wanted to cast a nostalgic tone without coming across as boring or low energy. I fulfilled both of these jobs by means of creating a company logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo style with a microscope slide as well as bacteria created for Owings Mills clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that examines the root causes and consequences of diseases, especially the field of healthcare that deals with the laboratory examination of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I recollect where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, however it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more captivating, more focus grabbing and more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping green frog created for a family members enjoyable center in Owings Mills.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better dynamic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Owings Mills traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but rather communicate emotional experiences through the photos they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they frequently tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Owings Mills logo design but also to reveal the depth to her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Owings Mills logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I really take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy really hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family did not share his hatred for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced point of views on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they adored the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their business logo comprehend how essential a logo design is for their company so they are much more vested in the outcome. Every logo design job possesses it’s allotment of hurdles, however the largest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, design for Owings Mills publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, but it is the most critical part of a printed book since it is often the very first thing a person views in the book store. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity that they will ever get to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it seems that in many occurrences one of the traits individuals tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a feeling of airline flight and it was definitely a victory.

Owings Mills logo style used for advertising and also a tag layout for Vintage Instance features an archaic font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, which looked to be antique cases. For this logo design I strove to come up with a logo that provided a fluid retro feel to it and could be used for anything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different point in time.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Owings Mills, design include an arc with lines converging through it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can be one of the most difficult logo design jobs considering that it appears that almost every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the very same way dental offices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really love doing dental care logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 characters staggered in height to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to illustrate exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that explains itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a hair design studio including a script font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo which carried a feeling of peace and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious course of designing just a stylized orchid but instead delivered a logo design that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is frequently the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the focus on the perception that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Logo style for a software application developer the layout functions and famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive management. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge in between the software and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it intimated something to the owner of the business and in many cases the substance supporting a business logo is just as important as how it brands the business it stands for.

A logo design including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to market their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Owings Mills logo design dsign using a graphic that seizes the attention of vehicles and projects an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo layout has actually an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem design wasn’t really composed for an Owings Mills area farm it was really created for a products broker, and this particular company was one of several that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to produce a image that projects self-confidence, success, and opulence.
Logo design developed for the use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is evocative a popular sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted quite a lot of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project in which I worked closely with the proprietor to develop a business logo that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
