STRATEGIES ON DETERMINING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design agency offers a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can’t refund the time you invest which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but in the end a designer can only be evaluated by the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio does not feature real world examples chances are they will not be able to deliver a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s goal is to mirror your personal vision for your company. If a designer is not focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how quickly they can get paid.

Waldorf LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping small business owners establish memorable brand identities. We have done logo design work for ranchers, educational institutions, diamond miners, wedding singers, bistros, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business concern you can envision. What makes us different compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every branding project as though it will be utilized as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first method our logo designs can, and have been utilized in everything from fashion labels to electrical signs. Our sign first technique insures that our logo designs are just as effective whether they are used in television commercials or web apps, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and always remembered irrespective of size or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

Something that seriously sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you might possibly have come across on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are hired to perform, we perform ourselves. Irrespective of the kind of design project we undertake, logo, web page, trade show exhibit, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will job out our customer’s projects to 3rd parties located outside the United States. Whenever you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that marks up the price of your design project and determines the terms of how you and I conduct business.

QUALITIES OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Every new Waldorf company realizes that they need a logo, but few start ups entirely recognize the essential role their business logo will play in their success, or precisely why one logo works better than another. A company logo has an instant and lasting effect on the prosperity of a business, select the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, select the wrong one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Waldorf businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require deliberation, they can be grasped in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from label to posters a scalable logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the item or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be enduring and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s a verb as well as a noun, it is an identifying mark and also the process of marking something to ensure that it could be distinguished, its origin originates from the mark burned onto animals. Nowadays a brand indicates pretty much anything with an objective, regardless of whether it be revenue or politics, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the worth of something in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s sexy cousin, they are each from the very same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest directed at a specific audience, it’s objective is to develop a mental image that the target market will likely relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When somebody says the brand names Lamborghini or Mustang what we think of is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, elegance, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals want those brands. Brand image is why individuals identify with specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Agencies – If you look back at the history of the majority of branding agencies you’ll discover that they are quite often re-branded marketing firms. When a person claims they are in marketing many people will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that concentrates on a kind of visual design that helps form the public image of a company, a product or a business. Brand identity designers create logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and also collateral products such as cards, stationery, and also sales brochures. Some identity designers also design sites as well as user interfaces. The essential function of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and an emotional tone with the objective of influencing activities, end results as well as assumptions.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Waldorf coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an old section of town and wished to visualize a retro tone without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both jobs by means of creating a business logo concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and also bacteria designed for Waldorf clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the triggers and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine that deals with the laboratory assessment of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I remember in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, yet it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and more memorable.

logo style with a leaping green frog developed for a family enjoyable facility in Waldorf.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dentists, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a better dynamic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Waldorf traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I think it is a niche field because travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but rather project emotional experiences through the images they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they often share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with just words. I tried to do something much the same to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Waldorf logo but also to illustrate the depth to her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Waldorf logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design projects that I take on I honestly savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my client, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his aversion for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage all of them to share it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get objective opinions on the merit of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to create their logo design comprehend how crucial a logo is for their company so they are much more invested in the end result. Every logo design job has it’s share of hurdles, however the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, layout for Waldorf publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, but it really is the most vital part of a published book due to the fact that it is often the initial thing a person sees in the book shop. With regard to a publisher, it’s the best opportunity they will likely ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it seems that in many occurrences 1 of the traits consumers usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller start-up commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a sense of airline flight and it was surely a success.

Waldorf logo style made use of for advertising and marketing as well as a label style for Vintage Instance includes an old font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be much older cases. For this brand design I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be utilized for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another era.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Waldorf, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo design projects because it appears that every single dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really enjoy doing dentist business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family members nonprofit, the logo design features 4 personalities surprised in height to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to summarize how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that describes itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout developed for a Waldorf hair design studio including a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo that projected a feeling of calmness and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious path of making merely a stylized orchid but alternatively designed a logo design which implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is generally the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately laid the importance on the emotion that they wanted to transmit to their clients.

Arabian horse logo design produced for an equine cattle ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a unique brand concept tailored to manifest the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of equines. With an unique head form and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most easily identifiable equine lineages in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Waldorf Coffee shop logo layout a small dining establishment, style contains a customized script typeface which floats over a team of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a small dining establishment, style consists of a customized manuscript typeface which hovers above a team of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Logo style for a software developer the design attributes as well as famous Waldorf aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk management. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge in between the software and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it represented something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the substance supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the business it stands for.

Evolve logo style created for a Waldorfinterior developer, design function a series of red circles that converge and also change the letter O in the middle of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Waldorf interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who plans, investigates, coordinates, and manages such tasks. Interior design is a diverse profession that consists of conceptual development, area planning, location assessments, programming, investigation, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo layout provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Waldorf, the personalities for letter V as well as A in middle of words advanced have been changed to tie straight right into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Waldorf logo design assignment was completed for a leadership advisor that helps business leaders to become more successful at overseeing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Waldorf business logo style featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly recognized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a spot to sell off their pre-owned goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Waldorf logo design design using an illustration which garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo design MQ farms, this Waldorf company logo design has actually an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand idea wasn’t actually created for an Waldorf area farm it was really devised for a products broker, and this particular company was one of multiple that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to develop an identity that projected confidence, effectiveness, and opulence.

Waldorf Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo layout attribute for externally encountering arrow as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the opportunity to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye in the absence of understanding where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this particular case, I nailed a bullseye with the first shot.

Logo developed for using an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript typeface that is reminiscent of a popular Waldorf sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked directly with the owner to create a business logo that worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
