Massachusetts Logo Design

Every new Massachusetts  business knows they need a logo, yet few new business owners entirely grasp the essential role their logo will perform in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo design works better than another. A logo design has an immediate and lasting effect on the prosperity of a business, choose the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, select the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the life of a business.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Massachusetts businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not demand contemplation, they can be realized in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will be legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be enduring and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo design of a bicycle produced for a Massachusetts coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening in an old part of the town and hoped to project a nostalgic feel without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished the two tasks by designing a company logo concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and also germs created for Massachusetts medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare that works with the laboratory examination of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recall in which I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and even more memorable.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog made for a family members enjoyable facility in Massachusetts.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and a tree - created for Massachusetts travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead convey emotional experiences through the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they frequently tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with just words. I made an effort to do something much the same to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Massachusetts  logo design but also to illustrate the depth of her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Massachusetts logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design jobs that I take on I truly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but the client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his aversion for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge them to share it with colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased assessments on the merit of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Business logos are a strange creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo design understand how vital a logo design is for their business so they are much more vested in the final result. Every logo design job possesses it’s portion of difficulties, but the biggest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Massachusetts publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped slice of real estate to work with, yet it is the most critical part of a published book because it is usually the very first thing a person sees in the book store. For a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will likely ever get to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go however it seems like that in many occurrences one of the aspects individuals usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a sense of flight and it was definitely a success.

Massachusetts logo design used for advertising and also a label layout for Vintage Instance features an archaic typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be antique cases. For this brand design I strove to come up with a logo that provided a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different point in time.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Massachusetts, design consist of an arc with lines converging through it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs due to the fact that it appears that every single dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dental practices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I actually enjoy doing dental care business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 personalities staggered in height to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to describe specifically how people should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that explains itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo style developed for a hair layout workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo design that carried a spirit of relaxation and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious route of making just a stylized orchid but instead delivered a business logo which implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is generally the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately laid the emphasis on the perception that they wanted to forecast to their clients.

Logo design for a software program developer the style features and also famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and disk managing. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a bridge between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it represented something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the symbolism behind a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

A logo layout featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a location to sell their used products to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Massachusetts business logo design with an illustration which garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo design MQ farms, this logo layout has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t actually developed for an Massachusetts  farm it was in reality devised for an investments broker, and this company was one of multiple which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to produce a graphic that projected esteem, effectiveness, and prosperity.

Massachusetts Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo layout function for outwardly encountering arrow as well as the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the flexibility to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without knowing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this case, I nailed a bullseye with the first try.

Logo made for the use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is similar to a famous sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted dozens of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked closely with the owner to produce a logo which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
