STRATEGIES ON CHOOSING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design agency presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they simply cannot reimburse the time you commit which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but in the end a design agency can only be evaluated from the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio does not feature real life examples odds are they will never be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s goal is to reflect your unique vision for your business. If a designer isn’t focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how quickly they can get paid.

Brookline LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs grow unforgettable brand identities. We have done logo design work for mechanics, educational institutions, diamond miners, party planners, coffee shops, retail stores, and virtually every other kind of business you can imagine. What makes ImageCo different compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every design as though it will be used as an electric sign. Because of our sign first strategy our logo designs can, and have been employed in everything from clothing labels to neon signs. Our sign first approach ensures that our logos are equally successful whether they are used in television commercials or web apps, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and always remembered irrespective of size or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

Something that seriously sets ImageCo apart from many of the design companies that you probably have stumbled upon in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are enlisted to perform, we do in-house. Regardless of the kind of project we undertake, brand identity design, web page, trade show display, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our client’s projects to contractors located outside the US. When you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that marks up the price of your design project and imposes the conditions of how you and I conduct business.

QUALITIES OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Every new Brookline company realizes that they need a logo, but few start-ups fully recognize the pivotal role their logo will make in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo design works far better than another. A logo design has an instant and long-term impact on the growth of a business, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Brookline companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not need scrutiny, they can be comprehended in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to retail signs a scalable business logo will remain legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the item or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be ageless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark as well as the process of noting something to make sure that it can be identified, its foundation comes from the mark burned onto livestock. These days a brand indicates pretty much anything with a motive, whether it be profit or political parties, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of specifying the value of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s sexy cousin, they are all from the exact same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest targeted at a specific audience, it’s goal is to produce a mental image that the audience can identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and identity design. When somebody says the names Porsche or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes people want those products. Brand image is why individuals acquire specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you look back at the history of most branding firms you’ll find that they are often re-branded marketing agencies. When a person claims they are in advertising and marketing most individuals will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that specializes in a type of visual design which helps shape the perception of a business, a product or an institution. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, sign designs, packaging, and also collateral material such as cards, stationery, and sales brochures. Some identity designers also develop websites and software interfaces. The important duty of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and a psychological tone with the objective of influencing actions, results as well as assumptions.

Featured SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo design of a bike developed for a Brookline coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and cafe were actually opening up in an older section of the city and hoped to project a retro atmosphere without coming across as boring or low energy. I accomplished both of these tasks by designing a company logo concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide as well as bacteria designed for Brookline clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which studies the root causes and consequences of diseases, especially the field of medicine that works with the laboratory assessment of samplings of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the only instance I call to mind where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Usually I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents very literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and even more memorable.

logo style with a jumping environment-friendly frog made for a family enjoyable center in Brookline.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dentists, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more dynamic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo including a group of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Brookline travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector because travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather project emotional journeys by means of the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they often share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with just words. I tried to do something comparable to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Brookline logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Brookline logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design projects that I take on I honestly savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however my client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members did not share his scorn for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage all of them to share it with colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get objective judgements on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Business logos are a weird creature in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo design comprehend how vital a logo design is for their organization so they are way more invested in the result. Every logo project has it’s allotment of hurdles, but the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Brookline book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, but it really is the most critical part of a printed book considering that it is in most cases the initial thing a person views in the book store. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will likely ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it seems like that in many cases one of the traits individuals usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle airline situated in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a sense of flight and it was surely a success.

Brookline logo design used for advertising as well as a tag layout for Vintage Situation features an old font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, which looked to be much older cases. For this brand design I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a web page to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different era.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Brookline, design include an arc with lines intersecting through it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects due to the fact that it appears that virtually every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dental professionals do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I actually love doing dentist logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters startled in elevation to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to summarize specifically how people should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that describes itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo design produced for a Brookline hair design studio including a script font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo which communicated a feeling of simplicity and class for their new hair studio. I created a concept which did not go the obvious route of designing simply a stylized orchid but instead delivered a company logo that suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is more often than not the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the emphasis on the perception that they wanted to project to their clients.

Arabian equine logo layout created for a steed cattle ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a distinct creative logo concept fashioned to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of horses. With an identifiable head shape and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most immediately identifiable equine breeds in the world.

Las Cafe, A Brookline restaurant logo design a small dining establishment, style contains a customized manuscript font which hovers over a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo style a small dining establishment, style contains a customized manuscript typeface which floats above a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo layout for a software program developer the layout attributes as well as famous Brookline component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk management. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection in between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it represented something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the symbolism supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

Evolve logo design created for a Brooklineinterior developer, design attribute a series of red circles that converge and replace the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Brookline interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is an individual who prepares, researches, collaborates, and manages such projects. Interior design is a diverse occupation that includes conceptual development, space planning, location assessments, programming, analysis, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and implementation of the design.

logo layout provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Brookline, the personalities for letter V and also A in center of words progressed have actually been customized to link straight into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Brookline logo design job was carried out for a management guide that assists business professionals to develop into more effective at handling people, expectations, and productivity.

A Brookline business logo style including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly realized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to sell off their pre-owned goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Brookline logo design with a graphic that garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.

Logo design MQ ranches, this Brookline company logo design has a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem concept wasn’t actually designed for an Brookline regional farm it was in reality devised for a commodities broker, and this particular business logo was one of many which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to make a brand mark that projected self-assurance, effectiveness, and opulence.

Brookline Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo design feature for ostensibly encountering arrowhead as well as the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design that they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the liberty to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where the target is. Fortunately, in this particular instance, I hit a bullseye with the very first try.

Logo design designed for the use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is similar to a well-known Brookline sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked directly with the owner to develop a logo design that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
