Brookline, Massachusetts Logo Design

Virtually every new Brookline company realizes that they need a logo, but few new business owners fully are aware of the vital role their logo design will take in their success, or exactly why one logo functions far better than another. A logo design has a critical and long-term impact on the financial success of a business, choose the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life span of a company.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Brookline, Massachusetts businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand consideration, they can be comprehended in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo design will be legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo design of a bicycle created for a Brookline, Massachusetts coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an old part of the area and wanted to cast a nostalgic feel without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished each of the tasks by means of designing a trademark concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and germs made for Brookline, Massachusetts medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which investigates the triggers and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which works with the laboratory examination of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the only instance I recall where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Generally I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, yet it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more captivating, more focus grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo style with a leaping green frog designed for a family fun center in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better dynamic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Brookline, Massachusetts traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but rather convey emotional journeys through the photos they record. The thought behind this logo design was to use negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they oftentimes convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something comparable to this logo by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Brookline logo but also to reveal the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Brookline logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design jobs that I take on I truly savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man genuinely loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his scorn for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge them to share it with friends and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get objective assessments on the worthiness of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they adored the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to design their business logo understand how crucial a logo is for their business so they are much more vested in the final result. Every logo project possesses it’s allotment of difficulties, but the biggest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, style for Brookline, Massachusetts publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most necessary part of a published book because it is in most cases the first thing a person sees in the bookstore. With regard to a publisher, it’s the opportunity they will ever have to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it seems like that in many cases 1 of the aspects people often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small fledgling commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to confering a feeling of flight and it was definitely a victory.

Brookline logo design used for marketing and also a tag style for Vintage Case includes an old-fashioned font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be older cases. For this business logo design I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Brookline, Massachusetts, layout include an arc with lines converging through it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo jobs due to the fact that it appears that every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dental practitioners do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really love doing dental care business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities surprised in elevation to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to illustrate how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that explains itself won’t have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo design developed for a hair layout studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo which related a sense of serenity and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious course of creating simply a stylized orchid but alternatively designed a business logo which implied a flower in the formation of a swirl featured into the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is generally the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the emphasis on the perception that they really wanted to forecast to their customers.

Arabian steed logo design developed for an equine cattle ranch that focuses on reproducing Arabian show equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a one-of-a-kind brand concept customized to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of horses. By having a distinctive head shape and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most quite easily recognizable equine breeds in the entire world.

Las Coffee shop logo design a tiny dining establishment, layout contains a changed manuscript font style which hovers over a group of elaborate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a tiny dining establishment, layout contains a modified manuscript font style which hovers above a group of ornate lines as well as dots.

Logo style for a software program designer the layout attributes as well as famous element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive management. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it intimated something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a logo design is just as important as how it serves the company it stands for.

Evolve logo style developed for a Brookline, Massachusetts indoor developer, design attribute a collection of red circles that converge and replace the letter O in the center of the logo design.

A logo style featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly knew the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a location to sell their secondhand items to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Brookline logo dsign with an illustration which grabs the attention of vehicles and projects an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo style has actually a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo concept wasn’t actually developed for an Brookline, Massachusetts area farm it was really designed for an investments broker, and this business logo was one of many that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to create a graphic that projected confidence, effectiveness, and affluence.

Brookline Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo design feature for externally encountering arrow and the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design that they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the flexibility to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of recognizing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this particular case, I struck a bullseye with the first shot.

Logo made for using a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is reminiscent of a well-known sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed quite a lot of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked closely with the business owner to produce a logo which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
