STRATEGIES FOR FINDING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design agency presents a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can not refund the amount of time you commit which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but ultimately a design agency can only be judged from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t contain real world examples odds are they will not be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be understood and remembered, and it’s objective is to mirror your personal vision for your company. If a designer isn’t focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how soon they will get paid.

Concord LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping business owners establish memorable brands. We have performed brand design work for mechanics, educational institutions, diamond miners, wedding singers, coffee shops, retailers, and practically every other kind of business concern you can think of. What makes ImageCo unique compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as if it will be employed as an electric sign. Because of our sign first method our brand identity designs can, and have been used in everything from fashion labels to neon signs. Our sign first technique insures that our logos are equally successful whether they are used in TV commercials or website apps, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and always remembered irrespective of scale or use.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which truly sets ImageCo apart from other design companies that you probably have stumbled upon online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are hired to perform, we do ourselves. Irrespective of the type of design project we accept, logo design, web page, trade show exhibition, or electric sign, we do not, and never will farm out our client’s work to companies located outside the United States. When you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that marks up the price of your project and determines the terms of how we do business.

QUALITIES OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new Concord company understands that they require a logo, but few start-ups fully comprehend the crucial role their company logo will make in their success, or precisely why one logo performs more effectively than another. A company logo has an instant and lasting effect on the prosperity of a company, pick the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Concord businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require consideration, they can be grasped in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from label to retail signs a scalable business logo will remain legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be timeless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It is both a verb and a noun, it is an identifying mark as well as the process of noting something so that it could be distinguished, its origin comes from the mark branded onto livestock. Nowadays a brand symbolizes pretty much anything with an intention, regardless of whether it be revenue or government agencies, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of specifying the worth of a specific thing in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s attractive sister, they are both from the same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest targeted at a target audience, it’s objective is to create a mental image that the target market will likely identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When a person mentions the names Ferrari or Mustang what we consider is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals purchase those brands. Brand image is why individuals get specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Firms – If you reflect on the history of the majority of branding agencies you’ll find that they are frequently re-branded advertising firms. When a person says they are in marketing lots of people will likely have an idea about what they do. But when someone says “I’m in branding”… it just seems much more impressive, possibly it’s due to the fact that the majority of people don’t know what it indicates to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and attractive.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that describes the visual components of a product or company that affect perceptions. This mostly consists of the name, the logo design, the product packaging, the different colors utilized however can also consist of sound, lights, texture, signage, really anything that can be seen, felt or heard belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that specializes in a kind of visual design that helps form the perception of a company, a product or a business organization. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and also collateral material such as business cards, stationery, as well as brochures. Some identity designers also design websites and software interfaces. The vital duty of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the objective of influencing actions, outcomes as well as understandings.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo design of a bike produced for a Concord coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an old part of the city and hoped to project a retro vibe without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved each of the tasks by means of creating a custom logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria developed for Concord clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which studies the triggers and effects of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare that deals with the laboratory examination of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I remember where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more captivating, more attention grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog developed for a household enjoyable facility in Concord.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental practices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo including a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Concord traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche field because travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather project emotional journeys through the images they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they often share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with just words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Concord logo but also to illustrate the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Concord logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design jobs that I take on I honestly savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but the client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man truly loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members didn’t share his scorn for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge them to share it with friends and family as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get honest assessments on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to design their logo recognize how essential a logo is for their company so they are much more invested in the end result. Every logo project has it’s share of difficulties, but the biggest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Concord publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most crucial part of a published book considering that it is often the primary thing a person sees in the book shop. For a publisher, it’s the best opportunity they will likely ever get to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart nevertheless it seems like that in many instances one of the items individuals usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young new venture commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a sense of air travel and it was definitely a winner.

Concord logo design made use of for marketing and also a tag style for Vintage Situation includes an antiquated font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand new cases for music instruments, that looked to be antique cases. For this business logo design I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another era.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Concord, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects because it seems that every dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dentists do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I actually love doing dentistry logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family members not-for-profit, the logo features 4 characters startled in height to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to explain precisely how people should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If people have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that explains itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo style created for a Concord hair style workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a company logo that carried a feeling of ease and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a design that didn’t go the obvious direction of designing just a stylized orchid but rather designed a logo which implied a flower in the formation of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is usually the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the importance on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Arabian equine logo layout produced for an equine cattle ranch that specializes in breeding Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a one-of-a-kind organization logo design styled to display the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of equines. With a distinctive head form and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most immediately recognizable horse breeds in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Concord restaurant logo design a small restaurant, style includes a modified script typeface which hovers over a group of ornate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a tiny dining establishment, style contains a changed script font style which hovers over a team of ornate lines and also dots.

Logo design for a software program designer the layout functions and also renowned Concord component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk management. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection in between the software and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the substance behind a company logo is just as important as how it brands the company it represents.

Advance logo layout created for a Concordindoor developer, design feature a series of red circles that intersect as well as replace the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Concord interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who prepares, researches, coordinates, and oversees such ventures. Interior design is a diverse occupation that includes conceptual development, space planning, location assessments, programming, study, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and implementation of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Concord, the personalities for letter V and A in middle of the word progressed have actually been customized to tie directly into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Concord logo design job was carried out for a management advisor that assists business professionals to become more efficient at managing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Concord business logo layout including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly understood the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a location to sell their used products to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Concord logo design with an image that captures the interest of traffic and sends an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this Concord company logo layout has a field included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand idea wasn’t really designed for an Concord regional farm it was in reality developed for an investments broker, and this brand was one of a handful of which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to create an identity that projected assurance, success, and luxury.

Concord Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo design function for externally facing arrowhead and the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design that they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the opportunity to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this case, I hit a bullseye with the very first go.

Logo made for using an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font that is similar to a well-known Concord sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed dozens of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked directly with the business owner to develop a business logo that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
