Gloucester, Massachusetts Logo Design

Each and every new Gloucester organization knows they are in need of a logo, yet few entrepreneurs fully understand the key role their business logo can perform in their financial success, or the reason that one business logo performs better than another. A company logo has an instant and sustaining effect on the viability of a company, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the life of a business.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Gloucester, Massachusetts companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand deliberation, they can be comprehended in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from labels to movie screens a scalable logo will continue to be legible and just as emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the enterprise they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be lasting and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.
Retro logo style of a bike created for a Gloucester, Massachusetts coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee bar were launching in an older part of the city and really wanted to project a vintage atmosphere without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled both of these tasks by means of creating a sign concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide as well as germs made for Gloucester, Massachusetts clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that analyzes the root causes and effects of diseases, especially the field of healthcare which works with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind in which I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Typically I try not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and much more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping eco-friendly frog designed for a family members enjoyable facility in Gloucester, Massachusetts.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to integrate a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - created for Gloucester, Massachusetts travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality because travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but instead convey emotional experiences by means of the images they capture. The thought behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they often share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with mere words. I made an effort to do something the same to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Gloucester logo design but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Gloucester logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design jobs that I take on I seriously savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however the customer, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man really hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family did not share his aversion for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage all of them to talk about it with colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get honest point of views on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they adored the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to design their business logo recognize how essential a logo is for their company so they are much more vested in the final result. Every logo design job possesses it’s allotment of challenges, however the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, design for Gloucester, Massachusetts book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin slice of real estate to work with, yet it is the most essential part of a published book due to the fact that it is usually the primary thing a person sees in the book shop. For a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will likely ever get to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it seems that in many instances one of the things consumers often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to affording a spirit of air travel and it was certainly a winner.

Gloucester logo style utilized for marketing as well as a label style for Vintage Instance includes an old-fashioned font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be much older cases. For this custom logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Gloucester, Massachusetts, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can easily be one of the most difficult logo jobs because it seems that every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I actually love doing dentistry logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a household nonprofit, the logo features 4 personalities surprised in height to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to explain precisely how people should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that describes itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo design developed for a hair layout workshop including a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo that projected a sense of serenity and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept that didn’t go the obvious direction of making merely a stylized orchid but instead delivered a business logo that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is frequently the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the attention on the emotion that they really wanted to transmit to their clients.

Arabian equine logo style developed for a horse cattle ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian show steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo layout for a software programmer the layout attributes and also legendary element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk management. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection between the software and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it symbolized something to the owner of the company and in many cases the substance behind a business logo is just as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

A logo design featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly recognized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to sell their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Gloucester business logo dsign using an illustration that garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo layout has actually a field integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem concept wasn’t actually produced for an Gloucester, Massachusetts regional farm it was in reality developed for an investments broker, and this particular company logo was one of many which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to create an identity that projects trust, financial success, and luxury.

Gloucester Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo layout function for ostensibly dealing with arrowhead and also the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the freedom to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without realizing where the target is. Fortunately, in this particular instance, I nailed a bullseye with the very first go.

Logo developed for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is reminiscent of a famous sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created loads of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked closely with the owner to produce a logo which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
