Lawrence Logo Design

Every new Lawrence venture knows they are in need of a logo, yet few entrepreneurs thoroughly realize the key role their business logo will perform in their financial success, or the reason that one logo performs far better than another. A company logo has a critical and lasting influence on the financial success of a business, select the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Lawrence businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require deliberation, they can be realized in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo will be legible and equally emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be timeless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

Retro logo layout of a bike developed for a Lawrence coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually launching in an older section of the city and really wanted to visualize an old-fashioned vibe without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I fulfilled the two jobs via designing a company logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and also bacteria developed for Lawrence medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the root causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare that deals with the clinical assessment of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I recall where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Usually I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more interesting, more focus grabbing and more meaningful.

logo layout with a leaping environment-friendly frog designed for a family members enjoyable center in Lawrence.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and a tree - made for Lawrence travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but instead convey emotional journeys by means of the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo concept was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they often convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Lawrence logo but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Lawrence logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design jobs that I take on I truly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his contempt for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to share it with friends and family as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased point of views on the value of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo comprehend how vital a logo design is for their organization so they are way more vested in the outcome. Every logo design job has it’s portion of difficulties, however the greatest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, style for Lawrence book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped segment of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most crucial part of a printed book considering that it is often the very first thing a person sees in the book shop. With regard to a publisher, it’s the opportunity that they will ever have to promote their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go however it looks like that in many instances 1 of the aspects individuals often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a good sense of flight and it was definitely a victory.

Lawrence logo design utilized for advertising and marketing and also a tag layout for Vintage Situation includes an antiquated font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be antique cases. For this brand concept I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Lawrence, design consist of an arc with lines converging through it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects because it appears that every single dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really enjoy doing dental logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and eventually I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a household nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to describe precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that describes itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo design produced for a hair style workshop including a script font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a company logo which conveyed a feeling of simplicity and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a design that didn’t go the obvious path of crafting merely a stylized orchid but alternatively created a company logo that suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is oftentimes the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the main focus on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Las Coffee shop logo style a little restaurant, layout consists of a customized manuscript font style which floats above a group of elaborate lines and also dots.

Logo style for a software designer the design features and iconic aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive management. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge in between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it represented something to the owner of the business and in many cases the substance behind a business logo is equally as important as how it serves the enterprise it stands for.

A logo layout featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly realized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a location to sell off their used products to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Lawrence business logo dsign using a graphic which captures the interest of vehicles and sends an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo design has an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand idea wasn’t really created for an Lawrence area farm it was in reality developed for a products broker, and this particular creative logo was one of several that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was to generate an identity that projected assurance, success, and luxury.
Logo design developed for using an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font style that is similar to a well-known sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed loads of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked directly with the proprietor to create a business logo which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
